Holy shit OP, we haven't seen you post this thread in like six months. What brought you back? Are you the same guy as the
>LOL MAZDA3
guy?

>samefagging this hard
>thinking anyone gives a shit about you

kys

The only bad part of Skyactiv is the name, because it doesn't tell your anything.

Yeah, considering that Skyativ basically covers anything that improves fuel economy. Kind of a marketing fail.

Does Ford not know how to spell "turbo" ?

There was a good reason for that. At the start. As you know, here in murica, anything turbocharged meant fun times and power. The Ecoboost was not that, it was instead turbocharging a much smaller powerplant to make good fuel economy, but with a badge that said "turbo" would have attracted the wrong crowd. So Ford called it an Ecoboost to attract their target demographic.

Forward to 2016, and just like the GT and SS badges, it doesn't mean what it originally meant anymore, because there is nothing "eco" about twin-turboing a 3.5 V6 at 12 lbs to make 365 HP.

you mean 700+ hp

Highest compression gasoline engine ever on the market
Greater fuel economy than downsized turbo shit engines that are gutless as fuck outside of fuel guzzling boost

That just helps the second half of my argument.

Hey why are you stealing my meem

Nope actually it was me not Op

but they're still that, low power with milage on par with other jap cars. I dont get why you fags likes this marketing shit

>Eco
>Boost

Pick one and only one, because you can't have both.

Economical pounds per square inch

stop posting this fucking thread

Dont turbos improve fuel economy?

When you're in boost, you effectively BOOST the engine's compression by squishing more air and fuel in. Note the part where I said more FUEL. When you're in boost, you're using tons of gas compared to when you're in vacuum.

You could drive any turbocharged car around in vacuum all day and get excellent fuel economy. The moment you go into positive pressure, there goes your "eco."

Well the term ecoboost doesnt necessarily mean that both have to happen at the same time. It's a normally economical car that has the ability to use both the economical advantages and boost from a turbo.

If Americucks weren't such pansies who need tons of power, this wouldn't even be a discussion.

I almost guarantee that the real-world MPG seen in the average "economy turbo" car is far less than the EPA estimates because normies fucking floor it everywhere they go, negating any of the benefits of the engine's small output in vacuum.

Have you tried driving on an american interstate with less than 100 HP in something that's still comfortable enough to be in for more than 10 minutes with all the weight of modern crash safety bullshit?

Multiair

that a real thing though it replace intake valve by hydraulic actuator or smth

Earth Dreams

>ITT: horseshit car tech

Convertible "sports cars"

Not a burger, but I drive my 70hp on the Autobahn about 60km and still donĀ“t have any problem.

OHV engines

>haldex """"""""""awd""""""""""

yeah my mpg are so great

>Superchargers

The Hellcat isn't turbocharged, it's supercharged.

/thread

haldex is horseshit

>What did he mean by this?

All lies

American highways typically have minimum speed limits of around 55mph (88km/h)

Ignore, read 60 km/h

because ecoboost, (originally at least) wasnt about adding power to an engine, but replacing power.

so instead of making a big powerful V8 that the government will punish them for not being environmentally friendly, they'll stick a turbo on a 4 cylinder to make up the same power that the V8 would give.

>carrying with your back
It's like that guy wants back problems.

Kek

I feel like this should be edited to say "Miata with LS3"

He's probably the Mazda3/PT Cruiser retard

vtec

>modified Atkinson cycle
Hnnng!

NICE!

>turbocharging for efficiency
Kys

Why the fuck did Mazda put an Atkinson cycle econoshit engine in the miata, a fucking sports car. It's neutered from the factory basically.

I wanted to like this car, I really did. I do think the chassis is brilliant but Mazda seriously why...

t. NA miata owner

because mazda like trying weird shit

if the RX9 doesnt have a Rotary i cant wait for Veeky Forumss tears

>Rotary experiment
>no rotary

then it wouldn't be a rotary

its 155hp but has the same acceleration as 240hp s2000
totally neutered

the econoshit engine aint no joke, bud

I know I know.... I just feel like it could've been better. Something doesn't feel right about going down 12 hp from the last gen, even if it is lighter.

Weird shit is all fine and dandy but if its a technology that literally makes the car less powerful, it doesn't belong on a sports car imo.

ps is there anyway to convert an Atkinson cycle engine to otto cycle?

its less powerful than the last gen but it has a very broad curve. apparently it can make 200hp with cams, exhaust and remap but unlike the previous gens cheap turbocharging isnt an option

Yes true. It's a pretty nice power curve. I need to drive one is what I need to do. I'm sure that would change my opinion on the car

>I need to drive one is what I need to do. I'm sure that would change my opinion on the car
apparently it feels like norevs, i think that would support your opinion of it not being right for a sports car

Honestly an NC club seems more fun. More modification options, like the 2.5 swap, and the engines can take boost alright. The cosworth supercharger kit is sexy.

Honda earthmemes

what wheels are they

that front end made me think rx8

Same. They are built on the same chassis after all

Not sure. I found the picture on clubroadster if that helps.

I've been thinking the same thing
