MCC is decent, if you like campaigns you'll love it aside from the occasional buggy achievement. MP usually works fine although some playlists are rather low populated. Glitches are encountered occasionally.

From what I've experienced after putting in 600 hours, I'd say it's worth it. Even if you can't find multiplayer games, you can still enjoy 4 campaigns, 5 if you buy ODST which I think is $5 as DLC.
From what I've seen the multiplayer is still alive, at least in H2A, Team Slayer, BTB, and few others. 343i put the playlists with the most population on the top of the selection so pick one of those if you're gonna play the multiplayer.

I can see the limited edition on amazon right now for $35. I didn't buy the limited edition and I don't regret it but here's what you can get if you do decide to buy it
