What could be causing intermittent idling issues? bogging down to the point of nearly stalling, turning the AC on flips open the idle air control thing saving it from stalling at lights? Smells like it's running rich, probably because the rear muffler piping is rekt

IAC probably fucked you can bypass it or just replace it.

As for running rich just disconnect the battery for a bit and reconnect that should reset the ecu and it should self learn.

Even with no power mods I'd have the same power to weight ratio as a BF XR6 with the L67, and I plan on at least running a high boost pulley and whatever else I can find that's affordable.

The really loud squealing when they accelerate is usually slipping drive belts, that's the sound I usually associate with shitboxes.

Probably needed a new tensioner, too - springs wear out in those over time.

Other than that, I'm thinking a high-boost pulley, balance shaft delete, ECU tune (or even a Haltech replacement), maybe a stroker kit? I've seen 4.1 and 4.3L kits, although I feel like that would limit my redline even more.

I wouldn't go too far with an L67, maybe pulley and exhaust. If you have a budget and a performance target, you'd probably find it better met by a v8.

That'd be someone else, I plan to stick with the supercharger. The L67 is lighter and shorter than a gen III, so it's something I'd prefer to have.

If I could find one for under 2 grand in SA, I'd get it, but I've never really seen one. From what I've read it's a bitch to fit in an S12 engine bay anyway, exhaust manifold barely clears and actually restricts power a bit.
