I don't understand this game at all. I mean, I kinda do but not really

Is this like, the living world or the afterlife?
what does it mean to be a lord of cinder? why are there 5? why is the kiln of the first flame a clusterfuck of kingdoms toppled onto eachother? whos the soul of cinder? What is cinder and what is unkindled? how come the player character becomes a lord of cinder in the end if unkindled are "not even cinder"

keeperfu is the only good thing about DaS3

I stomped on her on all my playthroughs

>Second worst girl is the only thing good about third worst game
Interesting

xth for best girl(male)

did you really make a pasta out of my post in last thread

Go look at the list of UGS. The Cathedral Knight Greatsword is pretty much middle of the pack. Greatswords in general are OP.

as interesting as cardboard and like cardboard the only entertaining thing about her is ripping her apart

Second best girl*

>Dark Souls 3 is worse than Dark Souls 2

demon's souls being ranked above any other souls game is the best bait meme in /dsg/

Not that guy but I don't get any of that either.
To be honest, I never understood what the fuck is going on in any Souls game. Every dialogue and lore tidbits from items seems like a bunch of random buzzwords out of someone's ass.
I think english not being my first language helped in that too.

>third worst game
>in a series with 4 or 5 games

Dark souls 3 is a videogame that exists, it has gameplay mechanics and graphics, there is a story.

...

DeS and das while mechanically outdated are still the superior games as their focus is on story and atmosphere over ADHD stylised gameplay

What's the difference between Undead and Unkindled?

...

DaS focuses on neither story nor atmosphere, it focuses on a strong PvE experience (in the first half/two thirds of the game).
DeS does focus on both of those though, and doesn't have much else going for it.

Unkindled are undead. Unlike other undead, they don't naturally go hollow over time.

Why haven't I found this guy before? He's fucking hilarious

youtu.be/PDgn4b09MqI

>If I was 20 feet closer and he was parrying he would have gotten me for sure

>ADHD stylised gameplay

Why did they make all the enemies so aggressive?

>third worst game
My list is BB=> 1 > 3 > Demon's > 2

This is actually fucking nice

i may be the only person here who thinks das3 is the best and deserves much more credit

that sounds exactly the same as

youtube.com/watch?v=zGocMPc7l5M

>Trying to imitate goose god from courage the cowardly dog are ya

anyone got any decent female sliders for DS2?

It deserves more credit but out of the trilogy of Dark Souls it's barely the best, out of the "Souls" anthology it's just floating around near the top, and in the whole collective "Soulsborne" series it's a distant second best

Bb,DeS,Das1 are the only good games
From software can't into sequels

DUDE
BLOODBORNE
LMAO

here you go

How do you become undead? Is everybody in these games undead/unkindled?

Is ENB gonna become Cosmo Wright 2.0?

...

Reminder that Bloodborne ruined
>healing
>invasions
>hitboxes
>tactful enemy design

Dark Souls 1 + DLC will always be the best FromSoft game to me

You become undead by getting branded by the darksign. It seems to happen randomly whenever the First Flame starts fading. You become unkindled if you were an undead who failed to link the fire in one of the previous cycles and are resurrected by the firelink bell.
Most of people in DaS1 and 2 are undead and most of the people in DaS 3 are unkindled, but there are some exceptions (for example, Sieglinde from DaS1 was a human, and the Shrine Handmaid from DaS3 is a non-unkindled undead)

...

plunging attacks have always been the most unreliable shit in dark souls
you can land perfectly on top of somebody and do 0 (ZERO) damage, and you can do what you did in that webm

>he thinks dark souls ever had good hitboxes

i had a good laugh

First, you have to understand what existence is in the Dark Souls universe. At first, it was nothing but archtrees and everlasting dragons. Nothing moved, nothing changed. Then, the first flame appeared, and it brought disparity.

Note the important word here: Disparity. Heat and cold. Life and death. Light and dark.

Now what you have to understand is that before the first flame, none of those things existed. It was not an age of darkness. It was an age of nothingness. Light did not exist, but neither did dark. The gods themselves never understood that. After waging war with the dragons, they waged war against the dark.

Now, in the original Dark Souls, humanity is greatly associated with the dark. In fact, it becomes obvious that humanity itself is a manifestation of the dark. However, you have to understand what this means: It means humanity is a manifestation of disparity. This is why as you go hollow, you lose your humanity: You are actually losing disparity.

Now, a few beings understood that dark was necessary in a world with disparity. In fact, seeing the gods' terrible and misguided war against the dark, they fought tooth and nail to help spread the dark. However, they did not understand how it worked either. They thought that in order to preserve disparity, the age of fire should end and that an age of dark should begin. What they did not understand was that the age of fire was not the age of light, it was the age of light and dark. Seeking to let the first flame go out would only bring about an end to the disparity.

darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Giant Dad 2.0

which one of you did this?

PvE in Dark Souls has hitboxes that are just fine, some of the grabs might be just a bit outside what they should be for the model but-

>monster hunter fag

Why do you people even enter this general when you've got nothing to say about the games

It's sad that good hitboxes are considered impressive and called porn by meme-loving fuck. They should be a standard.

>Monster Hunter
You do realize MH is notorious for the sheer amount of shitboxes it has became Capcom refuses to update gen 1 and gen 2 monsters like Narga "bite you with my knee" cuga, Plesioth and many others? That webm illustrates the exceptions that prove the rule.

Likewise, the gods sought to maintain the flame, all while trying to put it out. The reason the fire was fading was simple: The world was running out of disparity. And that in itself was the result of the gods' war on the dark.

So now we have to understand what happens at the end of Dark Souls 1, and during Dark Souls 2 and 3. In either of the 2 first Dark Souls games, choosing the "dark" ending would not bring about an "age of dark", it would merely bring about the end of disparity. The end of the world. But in both cases, we know that the canon ending is the kindling the flame ending. Now, what does kindling the flame means?

It means restoring disparity. It means either removing excess light or dark, or creating light or dark to balance out the excess of one. In the first game, you spend your time killing gods and their followers, then sacrifice their light to enter the kiln of the first flame to put out Gwyn's remaining light. You essentially kindle the fire by removing light from the world. Strangely, the kindling the fire is actually one where the dark is restored to parity with the light.

In Dark Souls 2, you instead remove dark from the world. You gather light to prove your worth, but ultimately, you destroy a lot of dark and seal it away, bringing back disparity to the world.

But what does that mean for Dark Souls 3?

So now we have Dark Souls 3, and it comes to a head. You see, it seems the solution throughout the ages to restore disparity has always been to sacrifice excess dark or excess light. Now we seem to have reached a point where both are in short supply. Also note the difference from the first two games. In Dark Souls 1 and 2, you restored your humanity. In 3, you restore your "ember". I haven't thought about what the ember is precisely, but the symbolism is clear: The ember is the little spark of disparity left in the world. The barrier between light and dark have gotten so weak that it's what we're reduced to. We can't restore our disparity with the dark, because there isn't enough dark to go around. If there was, there wouldn't be enough light to bring about the disparity necessary for the world to exist. The world is essentially scraping by.

It seems that what we're attempting to do is gather the ashes of the greatest lords in the world in a last ditch attempt to rekindle the first flame, to keep disparity running just a while longer. But the truth is that you're pretty much sacrificing the remaining disparity in the world to obtain disparity. It makes no sense. It's impossible to do.

this guy is fantastic. His constant sarcastic drawl makes my loins tingle.

youtube.com/watch?v=J7QFKtoL06k

Eygon and Greirat are also non-kindled Undead it seems.
The rest aside from Siegward, Hawkwood, Anri/Horace and the player character might be Unkindled or not.

Funny thing is, that it seems that while the Undead are kind of like diseased in a way, the Unkindled are prisoners and woken up specifically to fulfill their duties. This is both reflected in dialogue by Ludleth and the Firekeeper and the way Siegward dies after fulfilling his questline. He doesn't get killed, he just dies.

This is why the first flame embodies itself and fights so hard when you come to try and rekindle it. It's actually fighting to remain lit. Because no matter what you do, it's done. Once you defeat it, if you try to "rekindle" it with ashes, you sacrifice what little is left to try to save it. Like needing a human sacrifice to save the last human life. If you don't try to rekindle it, it's too far gone anyway.

In the end, it doesn't matter which ending you chose in Dark Souls 3. The fire goes out, disparity disappears from the world and it's the end of all.

holy shit das2 looks 20 times slower than I remember

Why does the Sable Church and Kaathe want to bring about the end of the world?

Why do the four kings look like humanoid humanity?

Watch the Network test footage of DaS2.

This fucking fight...

Oh boy. Time for some truth. Fuck the waifufags. Fuck all the idiots. I'm going to say it: Dancer is one of the worst, if not THE worst boss fight in Dark Souls 3. Oh, on an aesthetic level, it's brilliant. The music, the sound effects, the way the boss moves, the design, etc. But gameplay mechanics wise? Holy shit, I've tried. I've tried to see it as a well designed boss fight. It isn't. It just fucking isn't.

I mean who the fuck thought it was a good idea to give the boss the ability to go from its idle, "look at my ass" position to hitting you with its swords for 1000+ health in one frame? I fucking frapsed it, at 60 FPS, it goes from idle to sword through you in one frame. There is NO fucking warning. The boss can randomly decide to ruin your attempt and there's nothing you can fucking do about it.

But that's not all. It's also impossible to tell when you have an attack window. After using one of its absurdly counter-intuitive attacks (Am I going to rear back for one second before I swing? Three seconds? 0.2 seconds? HAVE FUN ROLLING THE DICE!), the animation it uses to go back into its idle stance IS THE FUCKING SAME AS THE ANIMATION FOR AN ADDITIONAL SWING. AND IT'S TOTALLY RANDOM WHETHER SHE SWINGS AGAIN OR NOT.

So you're left picking to either take your chance to land one swing and get your lungs torn out because she decided to swing again, or rolling preemptively (since there is no fucking way to tell whether she's about to swing or go back into idle stance) and losing your window of opportunity, because she just fucking LOVES only giving you enough time to land one swing before attacking again.

This boss was clearly designed with multiplayer in mind. Trying to wrap my head around what was wrong with the guy who designed this, all I can think of is that they EXPECTED people to always go in there with two phantoms to help distract the boss. This fucking fight was never designed to be solo'd. Soloing it is a crapshoot at best.

im just here waiting for whatever FROM comes up with next, user.

i killed her solo soul level 1

git gud

ded thred

>if you increased agi you'd go faster
what the fuck

Only problem I have with Dancer is the teleport grab, otherwise she's pretty easy if you're doing it at the expected SL.

Dark Souls 2 is a mess of broken promises.

BROKEN PROMISES:

"Dark Souls 2 will have a unique lighting system which will force you to use torches to light your way!"
>entirely dropped
"Backstabs have been reworked to be harder to do, so the game isn't focused around them so much. Backstabbing will require timing button pushes and will be interruptible."
>backstabs still just as easy to do, just one button press when behind the target. Can take damage while initiating it, but it's extremely reduced. Instead of realizing they needed to fix it, they just made enemy attacks track like fucking crazy to make it harder to backstab in PVE
"We realize dark magic was overpowered, so it has been toned down a bit. It's now its own class of spells named hexes. Pyromancy has been removed, fire spells are now considered sorceries, are cast with a catalyst and scale with intelligence."
>dark magic still crazy OP, pyromancy works the same as in the first game except now you need to stack intelligence and faith for it to be useful so it's absolutely useless
"Coop has gone in a direction we don't like (ganking and the such), white phantoms now despawn after a certain time."
>white phantoms apparently have an infinite timer, invaders got the timer though

"The environment will be very interactive. As an example, you can see an ogre through a tiny hole in the wall. I shoot it with an arrow and it breaks through the wall, giving me access to the walled off section."
>entirely dropped, ogres blowing through walls are only kept as scripted events which fuck up first time players for no reason other than to be a dick
"We want to facilitate coop play and invasions, so we'll be removing the requirement for bosses to be alive and relaxing matching prerequisites."
>first part is true, second part is SM (LOL)
"Main platform will be PC, the game will be adapted for it."
>PC version released over a month after consoles, no improvement except framerate, but framerate increase bugs out weapon durability
"We're trying to make equipment have unique abilities such as a shield that casts miracles and add more armor effects!"
>armor effects are nearly all the same, nothing is really unique, disk chime is repeated twice in the form of other weapons
"We'll be adding in features that play on the player's fear with hallucinations, arachnophobia, claustrophobia, and dark environments!"
>hallucinations don't exist, spiders are more annoying than scary, no areas are actually tight, dark environments removed

...

I think das2 had the best backstabs for PvP. Not obnoxious like das1 and not useless like das3. Backstab was the best roll catch in das2

...

>white phantoms apparently have an infinite timer
They do not. It's just really long, and it goes down faster based on kills. I timed out in the Crypt after carrying a host's ass through like 80% of it.

A lot of these were retracted due to Bamco pressuring From to put the game on PS3/360 hardware, too. Makes you wonder what DaS2 would've been like under a different publisher and on the PS4.

>not landing sick rapier stab backstabs

>A passive cunt that constantly backpedals or runs away.
Ewww.

Who the fuck would waifu Dancer?

DeS: r1 stagger combo to death
Das1: Havel mom flipping out giant club hornet ring backstab fishing
Das2: balance
Das3: rolling rolling rolling rolling rolling rolling
Bb: lol

>Whore of the Boreal Valley with her noodle arms and coloured sticks she calls "swords" can't be parried
>CHAMPION Gundyr, 7 times Heavyweight Wrestling Champion, 9 times International Arm-wrestling Champion, 5 times Caber Toss World Champion and his massive fucking halberd that can crush 40 yaks in a single blow
>can be parried

bravo memehacki

...

Meanwhile Dancer bounces off medium shields when doing a forward thrust.

DaS2 had spinning that glitched netcode, which wasn't as broken as the rest, but was about as annoying.

...

Omfg how many times do I have to kill this cunt before he drops his sword I've gotten 30 carthus rouge off him already

ds2 backstabs are actually the most useless in series
too slow to punish parry spam which is their primary use in ds3
back punch is straight fucking harmful and slow as hell, i lost a count of times when it came out instead of a simple r1 against an opponent trying to run away from me
and on top of that can be turned off completely
their only use in ds2 was roll catch against absolute retards and any sane person just rolled twice to avoid it

...

Back punch is faster than the thrust in 3

Can we create /sotfsg/ already?
90% of shitposting in this general is DS2-related, it's worse than BB shitposting was back in days.

> just rolled twice to avoid it
It's not a fucking DaS3. Or even flippin DaS1. In DaS2 rolls have enough recovery to always be able to punish them if you can predict them. Even in DaS3 with something like CSS you can do that.

DS2fags should just be banished to

t. shitposter

Meanwhile, in Dark Souls 2...

I'd rather a ds3g be made

not only it was slower, it also deals no damage while thrust in ds3 still deals full weapon damage, making it useful even if it misses
actually play in that turd of a game before opening your mouth
double roll was a 100% reliable way of getting out of any bs punishes ds2 had

>CCS
fix

Can we create /thinsking/ already?
90% of posting is about things I don't like, it's worse than /v/ back in days.

>thrust in ds3 still deals full weapon damage, making it useful even if it misses
Odds are if it misses the enemy is in their infinite roll iframes anyway. I can count the times the whiffpoke has actually hit someone on one hand.

>One of the most prominent spots for "competitive" DS2 PVP is an incredibly narrow bridge where falling off means instant death
You can't make this shit up

Yeah, I remember you.

The torch system was there but the current lighting the only real reason to use torches was to make the areas not look bland as fuck. They looked nice and that's pretty much it.

>It was slower
>Play the game before opening your mouth
Should follow your own advice

I think k this is the best option dor this general. Ban both shitty games and move them to their own separate general. Dark souls sequels general needs to be made

I really wish exploring dark environments with a torch and lighting sconces on the way had been a gameplay element in Dark Souls 2.

They could've done this in 3.

Instead, the ONLY use for the Torch in 3 is to remove leeches.
Or poke an enemy that gets arbitrarily stunned by fire damage if you're using one of the weapons that arbitrarily can't be buffed with resins.

The dynamic lighting they wanted was ultimately canned due to console limitations (ps3)

I would genuinely take that over bbg. At least bb was a souls game.

Most people avoided it because it was annoying and usually led to people just spamming arrows/magic down it and waiting for you to fall off.
Having to fight around the environment isn't a bad thing though, much better than 1v1 no items final destination all the time.
