In terms of graphics FIFA was always shit compared to PES. On top of that, PES always had more depth in tactical options and editing freedom.

The reason people buy FIFA and not PES is because FIFA has all the licenses that matter. People want to play as Manchester United, etc. Not as London Red led by coach P. Laceholder. Plus FIFA has brand recognition, and people who buy sports games are ignorant normies who know very little about tactics.

So if you're a Chad and actually want to play a footy game, you buy FIFA, because that actually has an active playerbase. Plus if you have a bunch of your Chad friends coming over, they can play FIFA with you because you don't need to set up tactics and shit.

have we ever played with the thought of distributing stat points per player instead of having every stat set to 77, 88 and 99?
Like setting an overall stat-cap and then aim for having a player that is faster than others while the next one would be better at dribbling and so on
It's probably an absolute hazzle and ends up doing nothing different in the end but Im still curious if that idea has ever been passed around

I tried to bring it up at some point, and the feedback was basically "People are going to front load it, and you'll basically have 11 ALWAYS START REGARDLESS OF CONDITION players.

Plus, some stats have other derivative stats that draw from them that aren't listed in game (like Offensive and Defensive prowess), so a +1 in one stat is completely different from a +1 in another stat

You'd have people dumping catching, reflexes, etc. down to 40 and putting it into Defensive Prowess. Anyone who's not a ding dong could use that to make 23 players that all play like golds in their respective positions.
