I was dicking around craigslist looking for a cheap beater to buy to learn how to drive stick and I've stumbled upon this 300zx i5s pretty much like pic related but the dudes asking 1500 claims to have new tires carbon fiber exhaust a new steering rack and all fluids have been changed
I do not know jack shit about 300zxs I didint buy into the Nissan meme
But I blue booked it as it should be around 4 grand
Are they shit?
Is it worth it?
Or is this some Nigerian guy trying to scam me?
Thoughts on nissan 300zx?
money pit, shit to work on, into the trash it goes.
My friend has a TT with under 100k miles and something always breaks in it and he takes care of the car too so it's not due to poor maintenance. The engine bay is super cramped so fixing anything in it is a horrible pain in the ass.
I don't know if it's car you can beat on though.
was one of the first adopters of the v6 back in the 80s, it is indeed a money pit. go for the 280zx or just get literally any other jap shitbox. buyer beware.
shit to work on, pre-92s are plagued with issues, heavy as fuck unless you find a 2seater hardtop, then it can be fun.
LITERALLY PISS SHIT TO WORK ON, WOULD CHARGE DOUBLE SHOP RATE TO EVEN OPEN THE HOOD.
Turbo can make 500whp for under 10k including buying the car. They are maintenance intensive because most are shit now. The NA's are slow and will never be fast in NA for (fastest one without nitrous was like high 13's.). They are fun cars if you have the money. If you are on a budget, look elsewhere. They are 27 years old, they mostly need a ton of random repairs.
easy to work on if you aren't shit at cars. The only thing not accessible from the top is the turbos. And you can get those from the bottom. Kill yourself faggot.
>carbon fiber exhaust
Lolwut
this is how we can tell you don't work on cars. You failed the casual filter.
>I work at a Z shop every day of my life
NA 300zxs are turds and really slow. turbo'd 300zx can make insane amounts of power with little more than a tune with stock internals
I looked it up its ricer tier shit
Was ganna buy it to learn stick it would need to last me a good 2 months of tour tourtue until I blew it up or sell it and try to jew some extra goy bucks outta it
The 1500 dollars is tempting for a car that's not just an econo box but I would literally dump less then 500 into it because I have another project going and I can't be dumping money into a shit box I don't even care for
Complicated piece of shit with a weird ass engine bay that's a complete bitch to work on. For example, it has literally 20 feet of intake plumbing.
Well it's hideous for one thing
Everything it tries Supra does better.
You know you have to be over 18 to post on here right? I know you came from /v/ and they say that as well but seriously, casual filter for an item that is going to cost tons of time or money when you need to be making money?
Are you saying no true auto enthusiast would buy a car that is going to be shitty or are you saying that if you don't devote your life to fixing your shit car you are a casual? Like what the fuck?
OP is looking for a cheap car to learn manual on, not a long term project.
I'm pretty sure the rice tax on a supra is high enough that dollar for dollar the 300zx is a better deal.
Yeah, I kind of got carried away. I'm not sure about learning manual cheaply on a 20 something years old luxury Nissan. You can just buy any $800 car.
Don't buy one if you're not willing to work on it yourself. If you have the tools and patience, it's a rewarding car.
the non turbo's are not too hard to work on and fairly reliable. Lots of little shit will break but the drivetrain should be fine.
After you learn stick, you have a slower very comfy gt that you can swap a v8 into.
If you are not mechanically adept or rich don't do it. -From someone who owned one.
I've got an na 300zx 2+2 and while its not fast its not terribly slow either. The gear ratios are fairly close together and the handling is decent so you could use it to run twisty roads and get a proper amount of fun oyt of it. The aftermarket is pretty small and expensive but maintenace on tye nas isn't too bad if you diy
It's got a fat fucking ass that gives me a boner, but the front should've had popups. That's all you need to know.
I work at an Infiniti dealership, at least three of the techs have various flavors of 300zx/240sx/silvia
Every one of them says to avoid the things unless you like having a car where everything is going out AND you have to work with and around some idiots fucktarded mods, and having everything but the fucking frame leaking
He's lubing his cock up nice for you. If you just need to learn stick and don't care if the thing even lasts you can do way fucking better. If not, you can still do way fucking better.
Pass.
Anyone who says the engine isn't a pain to work on is a god damn lying nigger.
