ah, next best suggestion I got for you is learn how to write characters so you can handwrite what you need to know into google translate on your pc
characters have a specific stroke order and translate is better at recognizing them when written in that order

it's not really dead so much as the majority of useful gear comes from like 1/4 of the monsters and that's all people make rooms for

how long does it take a newbie to get used to all the different combos for a specific weapon?

i just picked up 4U and DB looks really fun, but the min-maxing combos according to the OP pastebin seems pretty intense. For the time being can I get away with just basic X combos in demon form, build arch demon meter then just do some X's and maybe a XA along the way? Basically, is there a buffer period wherre i wont get my shit stomped for not knowing every perfect combo?

i've only played 4U and Gen and i want an "old MH" experience. which game should i emulate to learn about the shitty hitboxes and other rage-inducing stuff i keep hearing about?

if you're going to do the X combo the strongest parts are at the end though so otherwise most of the time you're only gonna be doing the first X hit, whirlwind slash, or the dashing slash in archdemon and only using demon dance with big openings

I'm not excited to see bows/gunners but only because so many of them are terrible

a good gunner is nice to have and useful for either status or just breaking hard to reach parts, but too many of them are just shit and die all the time without being useful

I don't understand how people cart so much when gunning with a group. I made the bow of memes and pretty much just go to town for 5-15 minutes. It might be a bit harder without the adept window but I rarely need to dodge.

Just got a 3DS and grabbed a copy of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for it.

How do I git gud? I read the FAQ and I think I understand the mechanics, but the fact of the matter is I'm getting my butt kicked by the big monsters in the quests.

are there any weapons to avoid while starting out with DB? new to game, not sure if i should just craft weapons whenever and then make the elemental weapons + good armor sets as stated in the pastebin

Mizutsune. Masturbate all day. Fuck every monster, large and small, any hole, doesn't matter, I bring lubrication.

it doesn't really matter a ton what you use early on. DBs get a lot from element but taking the time to keep crafting and upgrading the elemental weapons can slow down your progress worse than just taking longer to clear quests with a raw DB.

It's up to you how you want to handle it but you can easily get away with not crafting elemental weapons until at least high rank if you don't want to bother. If you're going with raw, look for weapons with a good sharpness bar since DBs burn through it quickly

I'm preparing to solo my urgent Nakarkos. I know the tranq bomb trick though I never got the timing right while helping others with their urgents. What should I expect? I suppose this will play out a lot like a mohran fight where it's just a race to deal as much damage as possible?

I can go at it with either a Switch Axe, Hammer or SnS (fire). Which one would you recommend?
