i wouldnt buy a manta as a daily driver. they require constant attention and they rust FAST if left outside/driven in winter

it did but it also tried to gas me and gave me the worst headache ever. and i'm not even a jew

now it's a bit too quiet for my liking but at least it looks good. the pipe comes out a lot in the rear so it looks a bit like a bozo pipe, goes well with the general style of the car. for $0 i'm happy, especially since good exhaust systems are so expensive on those. there are some available for 300 eurobucks, but friends have bought them and they apparently last about 2 years before rusting through completely.

as for OP, i would recommend the mercedes W140 or the BMW E38. you can get good examples of both for 5k in germany. they probably won't be low mileage but those have the best build quality ever so it's not really a problem

i would look for an S320L or S500L, or 728i to 740iL. avoid the V12s if you're not rich or at least semi-rich

honestly i would pay up to 3000 for a clean one with a CIH these days. 5000 to 6000 if it's a GT/E. 2500 tops for a 1200S. (theres currently one for sale for 2k near me, also went to see one that was for sale for 1300 recently but didnt buy it because it wasn't that clean)

surprisingly the MK1 mantas rust LESS than the plastic bumper ones. something to do with the rustproofing that suddenly got shitty in the 80's

well the only skidd i ripped in 2016 in the rain was about a week ago on 10 year old summer tires in freeze weather.
results are a bent rear axle and now the thought if i have to replace my car or put another bit of money into it.

oh believe me, the E36s we got were shitty too.

my friend finally managed to sell his, but it was a nightmare. plasticshit parts in the cooling system were cracking/blowing up, rubber was perishing at an astounding rate in the suspension and drivetrain, his gearbox died suddenly, and there was lots and lots of hidden rust that he didn't see at first. plus all the rubber window seals, sunroof seals, door seals were drying and cracking. and that car was one of the cleaner ones we had seen when he bought it.

they're nice to drive, but holy shit do not buy unless you want to lose your shirt and your mind
