This kills the southerner

>this kills the southerner

About fucking time it started snowing. My shitbox was being deprived of sick skids.

>I have crashed twice driving in snow/ice

My first winter with RWD, anything special with snow driving that isn't "like road but slippery"?

I went into a ditch twice my first year driving and haven't had a single problem since.

It's like the road but slippery. Take it slow if you have to and don't try to brake if you already don't have traction.

live in CO OP?

We got our first snow yesterday and everyone seems to have forgotten how to drive (or didn't put their winter set on yet?). There was barely anything on the roads and we were crawling at 10 mph home from work last night

>laughingcanadians.jpg

git gud

It was way more icy than our typical storms, so that had something to do with it.

Colorado Springs fag reporting in. Surprised I wasn't pulling people out of ditches yesterday with how dumb they were driving

I have cars. a 1988 Mercedes 560SL, and a 2013 Mazdaspeed3

>tfw the RWD Mercedes handles better than the FWD Mazda
>tfw I can live out my fantasy of being an 80's euroracer

Yes

>heater on maximum blast
>Amy Grant Christmas music playing
>gloves on
>sunglasses on

It was icy in one section for me, saw a mustang in the ditch (typical), and some big dumb SUV sliding all over the place. I had no issues with my winter tires on though

Same. Don't have dedicated winters, just quality mud and snows. It'll be a good winter, I enjoy cold weather and I like helping people out.

On the other hand, suns out and warming up already. Such is life in the best state.

Northwestern Minnesota.

>tfw no miata to cuddle with
I love my french shitbox tho

>mfw going 10 over the speed limit with 1-2 inches of snow on the ground while everyone else goes 10 under

Heh

Can't wait

>work early morning shifts
>always beat snow plows to the highway

>mfw plowing through over a foot of snow on a fucking civic
>mfw if I get in a wreck I'll be a popsicle before anyone finds me
>mfw total fucking whiteouts during a snow storm
>mfw I have to feel which side of the road I'm on using the rumble strips

I need to get a literal snow plow with foglights for winter driving already. If it weren't for studded tires I'd be wrapped around a tree by now.

>tfw no snow this year

>mfw I have to feel which side of the road I'm on using the rumble strips

I literally had to do that last night because of how hard it was coming down
>doing 50
>literally can't see past the hood of my car
>JESUS TAKE THE WHEEEEEEEEEEL

Don't know why I asked for permission to continue. I'm going to tell the rest of my story.

>too late to cancel school as the buses already did their trips

Don't bully him, he's from the south it's not his fault.

Shit's based

>sit in my car for half an hour waiting for everyone else to leave first
>bad idea
>moms are now here to pick up younger and no-car kids since the buses won't drive in the snow

>tfw in phoenix az

Go to the high desert and by the GC. It's wonderful, although Utah is the most gorgeous state I've been too

Hnnngggh
>Does anyone have that photo of user's black miata parked on the street covered with snow?

>almost flagship German roadster handles better than a new car with fake awd
Wow what a fucking surprise

mazdaspeed3 doesn't have real or fake AWD though

This. It's only a FWD car. which have been known to handle better in snow than a RWD.

I'll second that Utah opinion.

Pic related is a bigass parking lot at one of the marinas at Pineview Reservoir, up Ogden canyon.

Amazing drive, shame that parking lot is officially 100% pay to enter, and the cops patrol it better than they used to - the good old days of crazy snow donuts are gone.

I have litterally never crashed, no matter the driving conditions

Then, I drive one of pic related

Drive slow

KEK MOBILE to the max

Just got winters on my wrx last weekend. Bring it polar vortex!

Both times were with a 98 stratus. One time I was doing 90+

Where in cos? In the south it wasn't that bad, a little icy but I didn't think people would be crashing (then again it is Colorado)

It's a comfortable ride, mine is diesel which makes it even slower but it can literally go from one end of the country to the other on a full tank(and have some left)

Besides, I paid 1k merkels for it and everything runs fine, I dare you to find a better shitbox for this price
My car only does 90 when downhill

A MOTHER FUCKING TWINGO
>KEK MOBILE
yeah i think i ment KEK mobile
my senile neighbours have the same car

kek

cuck

You forgot your trip on

Anyway, a twingo does not fit my needs:
>5 door
>lots of space
>actually comfortable
>can convert to minivan(remove backseats)
>diesel
>not a deathcan made out of tin

>his country is so small that he can drive the length of it on a single tank of gas

How sad.

>his country is so big he will never see 1% of it
not to mention the fact that when your country is big, you get so many different cultures you stop being a nation

>>english class has to cut the break vs brake lesson to keep up with the syllabus
Lmao

yeah im leaving now
for typing kek instead of kek 2 fucking times

It's a memefilter you turbonerd

Eurocucks get so assmad

KEK KEK KEK KEK

I've seen a decent amount, but having all this shit is neat.

good god, I have driven through worse at the speed limit and I'm not even in a big ass truck or anything. The fuck is wrong with you pansies? Do you not know how to drive?

>implying driving is snow is any different than an average Florida summer storm

Having done both I find no difference. Roads are slick and visibility is shit

>mfw eastern central WI
>mfw it's supposed to be mid 40's throughout first half of December.

When I was a kid it would snow in November.

I'mma be in Wisco Crapids for the entirety of December

I hope to god it doesn't snow much.

It's 60 by me in Sheboygan. I think you will be fine famalam.

It's been snowing around Christmas time lately.

Nice. I've got a different variant of the KEK MOBILE. A nice drive in slippery weather.

Every year the same thing here, at first snow everybody somehow seems surprised that it's slippery even though we get rough winters.

I'd rather be in a snowstorm, I feel like the visibility is slightly better

A light snowfall like that would cripple any southern city. Think thousands of cars abandoned on the freeway, and people sleeping overnight in their cars.

Staying parked doesn't mean you drive. Does it even start?

Yes, and it will still start after you are long dead BECAUSE IT'S A DIESEL AND THOSE LAST LONGER THAN YOU EVER WILL YOU PETROL CHUGGING FAGGOT

Parker fag reporting.

Got 5", hooned in my little xj last night in unplowed dirt roads, then pulled someone out of a ditch this morning.

Maybe someone will buy it now that several people have put their cars into a ditch.

Parker is pretty cool

Also what year?

Colorodo seems pretty cool. I've been through it a couple times. Shame about the gun laws though.

Been having slushy snow and rain for the entirety of today... words cannot describe how much I hate weather like this

Shitty little Fords we have at work struggle to get up hills, and they cannot deal with slush at all as the front end is way too light

IT'S LIKE A WORSE LOOKING SURRENDERMONKEY PRIUS

Nah some of us hicks live far enough up in the mountains enough to where we actually look forward to driving .

>In Ontario
>Could be summer
>Record fucking high of 20 degrees C
>Really, really missing the snow

send help

lurk moar, newfig, especially before you decide to trip lmao.

Thinking about actually investing in some snow tires for my Cherokee this year. Will I still be able to do skidz when I want to, or will the snow tires make it too difficult/unpredictable?

If you leave it in 2wd you can do some skids, it'll just be more controllable

Hit the gas around corners for max respekt.

Can't wait for winter, Canadian here and i fucking love it. Had an AWD Mercedes the past two years, and my Canyon for 3. Love driving the canyon in 2wd. Just got a RWD Charger and can't wait for some winter fun.

These were the tires my first year on the Mercedes.

It was pretty chilly here today at 65

Also my first ever winter I kind of crashed. Me and a buddy were driving on the highway, was doing about 120km/h, not very fast but probably faster than i should have been on my almost bald all season tires in an Accord. Came to an off ramp and braked to about 80km/h and completely lost traction. I was heading face first into a wall of snow and ice if i didn't do something quick. Pulled the e-brake and gave the car gas, trying to recover. Ended up hitting the bank all the same, but just cracked the rear bumper rather than totaling the car if i had hit it straight on.

Pretty sure i scared my buddy for life, and i still drive the same to this day. Haven't learned my lesson i guess. He'll get in a car with me, but i can tell every time i hit the gas hard he's a bit scared.

>tfw fuckload of salt

I know this post is 9 hours old but you live around Roy don't you? I see that Miata occasionally.
My girlfriend lives up in Huntsville, I hate driving there in the snow. Paying tuition leaves me with all-seasons so I don't even bother trying to get over Trapper's Loop.

Pussy.

Magazine laws

Luckily I own several large capacity magazines for every gun ever produced and every gun that ever will be produced.

> be in my 80s hatchback charger in 94
> driving home from college
> Christmas eve
> been snowy but interstate clear
> pass a handful of cars doing well under speed limit
> ha ha cucks
> hit overpass curve at speed
> solid sheet of ice
> slide across 4 lanes and shoulder
> use all mad diving skillz just to keep from going into wall head first or tail first
> slammed wall
> rebound back across all 4 lanes
> limp car back up to shoulder across 4 icy lanes
> why can't I into steering
> limp down offramp as cucks I passed carefully and safely navigate overpass
> find payphone, stupid 3rd party payphone company is blaring Christmas music over the line, literally cannot hear or talk to AAA
> based limo driver stops and lets me use car phone

Scraped the front quarter and snapped a tie rod. Turns out I hit with my wheel more than anything. Drove the car for almost exactly three more years after that. Didn't realize till years later it read a bridge freezes before roadway situation.

That whole bridge ice thing happened in Houston a few years back when we got a lot of freezing rain, caused some accidents. It rarely gets like that here.

~70 car pile up not far ahead of me on I-80 in April 2015.

>first snow today in central MN, a hefty blizzard
>plows have not done a good job at all yet
>taking 2wd pickup to dump to drop off garbage
>get on highway onramp a couple hundred feet behind a sedan
>he merges onto highway
>i merge onto highway, couple hundred feet in front of a semi
>sedan in front of me inexplicably slams on the brakes and begins to turn around even though it's a 2 lane each way with a ditch for a median (???)
>barely miss him even though I thought I had ample room and we were well under the speed limit

WHO TURNS AROUND ON A HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY IN A BLIZZARD

I DON'T CARE IF IT'S SNOWY AND YOU DON'T THINK YOU CAN MAKE IT AND HAVE TO GO BACK HOME, FUCKING GO TO THE NEXT EXIT YOU IDIOT

>tfw southern MN
>tfw no snow yet

My state had declared a level 2 snow emergency (a level 3 is the equivalent of the hurricane in FL where they close roads to all non emergency personnel). I tailed an ambulance about 10 miles up i75 through 3~ inches of blowing snow. I saw countless cars in ditches, and eventually I lost ambulance bro because he had to go pull some dumbass in a pickup out of the median. It was a truly beautiful night, all hell had frozen over and everyone was losing their minds. I did have to stop briefly to remove ice from my wipers, but asides from that, it was almost surreal. Enough snow that it was absolutely silent asides from all the sirens. I wish I had pics, but some nog stole my phone and I hadn't backed up that month.

...

The only time I've crashed was when a semi was turning down the wrong way of the one-way street I was on, cunt forced me off the road and into a rail. Managed to slow way the fuck down by the time I time I hit at least, fucker was around a blind corner so I couldn't see him being a dumbass.

Only got minimal damage at least.

Otherwise it doesn't really snow here more than a couple times a year and probably won't be doing that anymore if current climate trends are to be believed.

I live in crown king az, im just down here building a barn for my sister. Phoenix can blow me.

>roadster

cucked
KUCK KEK KEK KEK CECKU

Driving that piece of shit would make me hope that some truck would crash into it and end it's miserable existence

What are some good poorfag options for winter tires? I had Uniroyal Tiger Paws on my car the last few winters that I was able to get by just fine with but my new all seasons are absolute trash and I can barely crawl over a little snow with them.

Figure I'll get myself snow tires for the first time this year.

>tfw country is so small you can drive to end of country and back in a single tank on a 2 litre VVTi engine
>tfw south country is hilly and bumpy making for more interesting roads
>tfw north country is flatter and has curvy forest roads and abandoned airfields
>tfw can visit friends in another town on other side of the country in just 2 hour drive

>drive on highway to parents place which is 80km away or about 1/3rd of the entire country lenght away
>first snowfall
>car is twitchy as fuck even in awd, constant snowstorms
>just limit myself to 80kph

>later go on ice tracks to learn how to control car in snow
>smoke everyone because 4wd mini suv acts like it's just a wet tarmac road
>"holy shit didn't know my shitbox was this good"

And I still stick to 80/90 on the road and as low as 60 depending on the conditions.

I'm not gonna get my car in some stupid situation where I have to recover it, especially on public road

>tfw can't even do that in my own state

Not even mad.

Used to. Sold it before I left, I've heard the guy I sold it to really fucked it up, didn't maintain the paint, and now it looks really crap.

Shame, to waste a very well done rustoleum roller job on dumbshits who can't polish and wax their cars every 6 months.
