The robotic hivemind that hollowed out one of the Purple Guys and wore them as a skinsuit is also possessed by the ghost of William's daughter.

FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3. Long ago, the three FNAF games existed in harmony. Then, everything changed when Scott's hack writing attacked. Only the autists, masters of coherent plotlines about haunted animatronics, could stop him. But when the lore needed them most, they vanished. One year passed and we found /5N@F/, a bunch of autistic faggots who make stories and comics. And although their porn skills are great, they still have a lot to learn before they can make sense of this clusterfuck. But I believe that /5N@F/ can save the lore.

Mike is Springtrap and Will is the walking skin. Why does everyone keep getting them confused?

I interpreted it as Michael is the protagonist of SL, have all the events of SL & custom night cinematic occur to him as the events of FNAF 1-4's purple guy are occurring parallel To SL, then Michael is the protagonist of FNAF 3 and meets Afton/Springtrap, which is why Springtrap doesn't do the jumpscare to the player but rather just looks closely

To elaborate, when I say fnaf 1-4 occur parallel, when it comes to fnaf 3, it's the cutscenes that are occurring parallel, not fazbears' fright

The cutscene makes it sound like Mike got scooped and freed Baby, while he goes on about how surprised he is that he's alive. And for a guy who got his innards removed he sure has a lot of blood and guts.

In the final cutscene of SL, you can see Springtrap appear for a second near the end.

Small theory:
if we consider Michael to be the protagonist of SL and becoming the purple guy it doesn't make sense for him to walk around people in such a form, especially when there is not much inside him to walk with.
If you look at how Ennard look when it comes out of him, it's a bunch of metallic wires with eyes. However, Ennard has a skeleton, and it can be assumed to be inside Michael.
My theory is that Purple Guy kept a good part of Ennard inside, haunting his part of the entity.
The reason why he would kill can be assumed to be as a way to maintain his body in a presentable state, replacing tissues with others.

But that doesn't make sense. Mike is the one talking, and it's clear that he is springtrap. Why else would he say that he was mistaken for William? The ghost kids thought Mike was Will and got him springtrapped. There's no other way to interpret it.

People have said that the mechanical voice heard in that cutscene is evidence that Michael is Springtrap but that could be easily explained that Michael's scooped and empty body still has many parts of Ennard which allows him to move and have a mechanical voice while the end of the cutscene just shows his goal, his final destination, his destiny to find his father who is now Springtrap

Scott has the advantage that he is a single person who develops a game, who listens and sees many things, and can choose what to add or don't add. There are many other developers who do similar things (blizzard with Overwatch and gremlin D.Va emote) but I'm sure there are devs who listen, want to add a thing but can't because scheduling and priorities

Baby also seems to mistake Mike for his father in the private room ending. The robots' hostility and apparent fear, going by how Baby has to convince Ballora that "he's here to help" and isn't going to hurt her would also indicate this. If he had said something like "They cornered me, I had no choice" it'd be much clearer, but as of now the dialogue can go for scooping or Springtrapping

Additionally, Springtrap hasn't been able to talk in the series. He's been able to eke out hisses and moans but not to speak full on sentences. The inclusion of voice acting is very relevant to Sister Location's story, as these Afton-built robots are the first to be actually talking to you directly. Mike's sudden voice distortion probably means that he has some robotic parts in him, likely whatever kept him from dying when he got scooped. Just like how Ballora was still around when she got scooped. The game seems to be boiling towards a confrontation between the two Aftons.
