Is there any car in the UK thats somewhat cheap to insure AND actually worth owning?
Pic unrelated, costs about 2.5k with a black box

Fuck that black box shit, glad i left the UK
Look at classic car insurance if your good with a wrench.
Other then that you'll have to bit the bullet
import a twingo.
>Pic unrelated, costs about 2.5k with a black box
Stop being 18.
You can literally insure anything under 1 grand if you're 21+ and have a year or two of NCBs.
my jeep cherokee amd audi s2 both cost 800 fully comp
What the fuck is a black box?
its a box which sits in your car that constainly measures your driving, things like accerating, braking, how hard you turn, average speed. times which you drive. Shit like that. The insurance company then monitors your driving and can change your premiums month to month on it. Its "ment" to save money for save driving but its only really there to fuck you in the ass.
>TLDR Insurance spies on you so you cant have any fun.
You put it in your car and it tells your insurer how you drive. Basic UK nanny state shit
Jesus christ. You cant make this shit up. You are literally being tracked 24/7 and they charge you for it.
You cant make up those quads
the UK is a cucked shithole.
I'm not, 17 year olds are.
Still lame.
and then they charge you about 1.5k for a 1.3 civic.
fuck this shithole, once im finished with uni im moving somewhere where you can actually own a car without getting cucked at every turn
stop being 18
>moved from estonia to uk to study
>every letting agent, job etc tries to FUCK ME HARD and jews harder than greek trader that tries to make this months rent
>nanny state shit
>public wifi needs you to log in register 3 different credit card details and have a good credit to use 15 minutes of 56k
Sure people are great, country is beautiful but FUCK EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH FUCKING MONEY
Well this is what you get when you dont cull the jews
>fuck this shithole, once im finished with uni im moving somewhere where you can actually own a car without getting cucked at every turn
Same. I'm so fed up with all the bullshit surrounding almost everything, not just cars.
there are ways to get around this
A. Don't be a 17 year old
B. Don't live in a shithole with over 100,000 people
C. Don't expect to be able to drive a GTI or FiST as your first car
It was actually more expensive for me to get black box insurance than regular insurance on my 1.6 hatchback.
It was still £800, but with a year's of no claims it went down to £550. I'm also a 19 year old uni student.
I'd say where you live is more of a factor than what car you drive. When I first started driving at 17, I looked into getting a Micra. It was going to cost me £850. If I changed my address to my friend's address and kept everything else the same, it was £2500
Suzuki Swift Sport
It's in the same insurance band as the base models but is a Formula 1 car in comparison to the base models
While we are on the subject on UK cars, I may be moving to the UK next year and I was wondering how much of a pain in the ass is to bring my LHD car over there and registering it as an UK vehicle.
Is it even possible to do on a LHD car? Will they rape me on insurance?
Car is a '07 Volvo C30 2.0D
seems pretty good, have to have a box on it to get decent prices though, which defeats the point of having a moderatly fast car in the first place
possible? yes. you will get fucked so hard on insurance though, imports get treated like shit. desu you might as well just buy one here. or dont bother moving, this country is going to shit atm.
Yeah well I have an amazing job opportunity over there which I can't really lose.
I know it will be miserable, mainly because of the weather, but it will be worth it.
How fucked is the used market? Do they rape you just like with insurances?
depends, certain used cars are piss cheap (mx5s for under 1k, same with decent spec e36/e46s), dont know about newer cars. Then again, i guess they are so cheap cause noone who wants them can afford to insure them. just avoid pikeys and you should be fine
Do you have an idea of how long you can keep a car with foreign plates in the UK before you need to get it out of the country?
>Be brit, 19
>driven Mercedes, Turbo'd Landcruisers and BMWs back in New Zealand
>Move to the UK
>look at Volvos
>10,000 GBP per year for an 850 SE
Registering? Not a problem. My dad has a LHD kit car. There are a few Germans who live in my town and work at an aeroplane factory near by. A number of them drive LHD cars with UK plates.
As for insurance, like has pointed out, where you live is a big factor. It's certainly not impossible to insure a LHD car, but some insurers won't insure LHD cars
Use gocompare.com and comparethemarket.com to get an idea of how much it will be to insure a car. Adrian Flux are a broker who specialise in insuring exotics, imports, modded, classics etc. They also do foreigners and people with criminal records. Only problem is that you need to phone them up for a quote.
I think it's 3 months
You need to go back senpai
Thanks m80s
Bro, that's offensive
This man speaks the truth.
Ever since we got rid of our jew problem things have been dandy.
Stop being 17.
The insurance prices here are way better than most of the world, given you're not a teenager and have 1 or 2 NCBs.
I'm 22 and was never lucky enough to build a NCB off mummy and daddy. Insurance is 3-4K for me.
Move out of London.
I'd have to move to London first in order to do that. I don't live in a major city.
Fiat Punto GT / HGT
Well then I've no idea what you're doing wrong.
Put both parents on as named drivers?
I'm 20 and can insure a WRX for 1 grand annual.
then stop living in a shithole
I live in a town that's just old people with no crime so it's (relative) pennies for me to insure a car
Mate come to new zealand, thers no mandatory insurance, and insuramce is cheap as fuck, i have a 98 r34 skyline, a 98 gf8 wrx, and a shitty 96corolla, ther alll insured, the skyline is 860 per year for full cover, the wrx is 740 per year full cover, and the rolla is 3rd party fire and theft it costs 225 per year, the wrx and skyline are modified and my insurance company knows, the cars are insured for anyone over 25, and any blood related relative, the only named drivers are me my fiance and my younger brother
My insurance cost is 163 pounds a year. 6 points and a few accidents. Also, since this is a Brit thread
A N O N Y M O U S W I L L P O S T I N G
What car?
The almighty hammer of British Leyland
That explains the cheap insurance lel
that will be why
yeah but you have to live in nuu zullend and you're surrounded by Kiwis
Yea id rather be around kiwis then live in england mate, suns shining and im sittin by the pool, pic related
paying £700 per year fully comp for my MX-5 all mods declared (would have been £560 without) and i'm in a shit postcode. but i'm not 17
Oh bruv dont be like that yea, englands lovely innit, you get to see vah sun freee days a year, its a wonderful place innit, even vah pakis love it yea, dont be a downer bruvv
Yea but then you have to tell people you drive a mx5/miata, fuck that mate
Imagine being so normal you care about what other people think of your choices and tastes
Imagine being so lonely you buy a 2 seater car but only one seat gets used
your car has more seats lmao
you fucking rekt yourself you dumb shit. shame about those numbers, what a waste.
This NZ is sweet
>900 for my 300zx TT
>350 for my e100 rolla
Both full cover and I don't even have to have it if I don't want
>he own a car with five seats he had never been the designated driver because he got no friends.
I moved to nz when i was 18 from the uk
Had motorcycle insurance for $450ish when learner, then 300, then 250 on full intill i crashed
Got my first car, full comp 1,040 with no no claims bonus and a restricted license.
Compared to the UK its a real steal here
I checked for a Toyota Soarer too, a 4.0, and it came up as 1000/year
>'07 Volvo C30 2.0D
Just buy a UKDM version over here, it'll be far cheaper and you'll be less of a liability on the road
>want to get an MR2
>5K+ for anything that isn't a rust bucket
>2 grand per year for insurance
Welcome to hell.
Im watching you Charlie get back to work
Are these for comprehensive cover?
Fuck me, I just did a quick quote for a 1997 MR2 in Australia and it was $500/year for full cover.
Why does it cost so much in the UK?
Becuase hes about 12 has no driving history and lives somewhere thats probably on fire due to negro overpopulation a lot of the time.
If he was 25 and lived in a nice area away from town it would be like £300 desu
It doesn't.
I'm quoted 600 for an SW20 at 21 and 400 for an AW11.
What are you even meant to buy in the UK if you want a fun daily drive? Pretty much everything that isn't a government approved 0.5l ecofriendly ecoclean diesel seems to drag you into poverty almost immediately.
You just wait till you arent in your 3 years of driving then you can do whatever you like desu.
I tried looking for the cars in the sticky but half of them are amerifat cars and can't be found here.
How old are you and what are you looking at.
>black box
rofl why would you ever do this, often those policies are more expensive and if you think giving your insurance company (the ultimate jews) all the data they could possibly want to bill you more cash for breaking their rules is a good idea you should kys
>insurance is expensive in the UK
It's honestly the same as every other place in the relevant world, you aren't going to buy a fast car if you're 17 and live in a shithole, live somewehre worthwhile and buy a car that's cheap on insurance until you're somewhat matured.
Don't be unemployed.
UK insurance is still absolutely inexcusable though. Even in Australia, yet another statist, socialist utopia, I can get a JZX100 Chaser at the age of 21 and comprehensively insure it for no more than about $1250 AUD per year.
Britbongs are getting jewed hard.
You can do that in the UK to depending on the area and how many NCBs you have by 21.
Are insurance is basically the same as everywhere else and the only ones whining are 17 and 18 year olds with no previous driving experience trying to insure boy-racer cars of choice.
such is life in airstrip one
bbc.co.uk
>Be living in Australia
>Finally get dream car R34 GTR
>Drive around block a few times giggling at the engine noise
>Local soccer mom feels threatened by my compressor surge and calls police
>Days later police arrive and tell me they've been informed of hooning
>Tell me they are going to impound my car for the crime of hoon
>In literal tears at this point how will Paul Walker ever forgive me
>A week later get a letter in the post informing me that my car has been crushed
>Local News Report interviews woman and hails her as hero and goes in depth on the dangers of young male drivers and street racing
A-At least my insurance was $100 cheaper than in Britain.
25 and I really love the aesthetic of the old Toyota cars. Generally I prefer the brick aesthetic over the new curves fucking everywhere designs.
>implying this shit wouldn't happen in the UK
But it doesn't. At best, you'd get a section 59 but you really do have to be acting like an idiot.
Austrailia's hoon laws look fucking awful, and I'm glad the UK is nothing like it.
someone in the UK was once charged and convicted of revving their engine in a racist manner
Shit like this makes me very glad I live in the arse end of nowhere (north west of scotland) away from all that shit.
My insurance is cheap, lots of good roads, and police don't give a shit about speeding etc so long as you do it away from villages.
It sounds awful, but I had one for half a year and it wasn't particularly strict. I drove pretty much how I wanted and I always got refunds for being a gud boi.
Insurance for young people in the UK is def shit tho
