After making 1,000,000 RU in Call of Chernobyl with AO3, I decided to amass a collection of fully upgraded 7.62x51mm NATO firearms. As it turns out, they all basically have the same performance when fully upgraded.
>100% accuracy >Insane muzzle velocity >One/two shot kill on every human enemy in the game >Crazy recoil >Pointlessly high ROF
There's literally no reason to upgrade the ROF on 7.62mm NATO firearms, because the recoil is so high that firing more than 2-round bursts freaks your screen the fuck out. The HK 417 seems to be the best one by far, due to being able to mount a grenade launcher.
On a side note about upgrades, I fully upgraded the recoil reduction on the P90 in AO3, and it recoils downwards pretty severely now. Is that normal? If you reduce recoil too much, a weapon starts recoiling down in AO3?
Jaxson Ramirez
>I fully upgraded the recoil reduction on the P90 in AO3, and it recoils downwards pretty severely now ppffffffff
Henry Sanchez
That happens even in vanilla.
Gabriel Campbell
>Firearm has literally REVERSE RECOIL
See, I never actually upgraded recoil reduction in vanilla because it never bothered me. There's rarely a reason to be firing in anything other than 3-5 round bursts, so reducing the kick doesn't really accomplish much for an experienced player, you know? The "so little recoil that the gun recoils in the opposite direction" thing is new to me, and it's really severe on the P90 because of its crazy ROF.
Robert Gonzalez
apparently heavy_pockets only works if you are in the right faction
for owl, even though he is a loner... he has buy_supplies = {=actor_community(actor_csky) =heavy_pockets_functor} supplies_heavy_pockets, supplies_generic
which means if you arent Clear sky, you dont get the revised list of shit in heavy_pockets
you can change this. just change the above to buy_supplies = {=heavy_pockets_functor} supplies_heavy_pockets, supplies_generic
he now sells all the shit in supplies_heavy_pockets
and after changing all the fractional numbers to 1 or 2 for some even thou i am a loner with bad rep he is selling all the shit to me >pic related
turns out the fractional numbers is even in the vanilla trade file for owl.
not entirely sure this is the way heavy pockets is supposed to work, but in my opinion owl should be selling to loners {=actor_community(actor_stalker)
Oliver Adams
this is AO btw, should be the same for STCOP

Never played the games, and don't really plan to. But I'm just wondering, is the rest of the world as fucked as Chernobyl?
Elijah Rodriguez
Nope. Chernobyl is the way it is because of dumb magical bullshit involving psychic scientists in pods tearing a hole in the noosphere. The implication is that the Zone is spreading, but we never see that in the games.
There's a couple of (apparently awful) licensed books where there's more Zones, but they're not really canon to the games.
Jayden Adams
What are some good spots to make your stash in Call of Chernobyl?
Not really but the Zone is expanding, and in one of the books a new Zone ends up being created in Afghanistan.
Liam Stewart
Why are mutants radioactive if the mutations come from noosphere fuckery?
Noah Adams
Because the noosphere made some of them radioactive.
Jose Harris
y tho
Xavier Young
If your mother has a certain disease when she gives birth to you, there's practically a guarantee that you'll have the disease too. Think of the Zone as an infected womb, with the radiation being the disease.

Deepest lore
Luke Nelson
Darkest Time, while mostly following standard SoC storyline, does a pretty convenient flip when Barkeep sends you into Dark Valley to get the second keycard from Borov. If you want spoilers, right as you step out of Duty base, game tells you that you've been captured by bandits, and starts loading Dark Valley immediately. Interesting decision, and skips a lot of walking.
Owen Green
I chose duty to see how it is cus I was wondering why the relations between them and loners turned into a war.
And honestly it seems more intense than it should be, we pacted an alliance with military and are neutral with ecologists, that's all though.
Jason Cook
Relations between factions are affected positively if a faction is killing other factions that the initial faction hates, and affected negatively if it's killing factions that the other faction is neutral or better with.
In this particular case, loners were probably killing a lot of military squads, which made duty angry because duty is neutral to the military.
Parker Jenkins
>Playing as Clear Sky in CoC with dynamic faction relations >Somehow end up neutral/friendly with every faction >Nobody to fight unless I actively seek Monolith >Taking missions to kill Bandits or Mercs reduces my reputation rapidly
God fucking ass.
Camden Nelson
this is what you niggers get when you play half baked mods
Bentley Gonzalez
In addition to what people said, in Roadside Picnic there are more than one zone.
Thomas Mitchell
You know that happened to me when I was playing as clear sky and messing around, kinda fucked up relations for clear sky but overall it was fun.
After they killed me (was playing ironman mode) I chose duty just cause I saw that relations between loners and duty are negative.
When I respawned in bar, every, literally every loner started to attack me, I was dying all the time, it took me some time to finally beat all of them.
After that, I went to Wild Territory and saw another pair of Loners.
But...
But they were neutral to me, they didn't fire at me nor anything. I was a bit confused but thought it could be a bug. Moreover, when I cleared wild territory from mercs, suddenly duty and loners declared a war and well, yeah, the pair of loners started to shoot at me.
That was a weird experience desu.
Ryder Martinez
Interesting. Thanks for pinpointing the problem.
I'm wondering if it is intended. I can grasp the logic that a faction might hesitate to sell it's best equipment to non-faction members, but as long as long as they aren't enemies rubles are rubles right?
Certainly they would sell to friendlies if not neutrals.
James Nelson
>Going to X16 to meet controller and get his hand for sakharov >kill him >he drops controller brain only >need to go back to the latest save and kill him again
Ugh.
William Ramirez
yeah. i agree. and i think that's how it's already set up.
if you are an enemy to a faction and they show red, say loner for example, if you somehow made it to owl without getting killed. he shouldnt even talk to you, let alone trade with you.
i just thought it was odd that Owl being a loner would only sell that shit to clear sky. loner/stalker would make much more sense.
Ethan Hernandez
>i just thought it was odd that Owl being a loner would only sell that shit to clear sky Even stranger he wouldn't sell to a loner despite the loner being friendly with the loner faction. (In my case)
I don't know how difficult that would be to implement/mod. Obviously traders can reference your faction relation for discounts but is it possible to have them reference it to unlock their heavy pockets inventory for non-faction friendlies?
Ryder Watson
Because they live in a radioactive landscape.
Eli Nelson
>AO + CoM doesn't work >CoM uses the shitty default AK models JUST
Matthew Harris
yeah by changing to what i posted here that should make him sell to all factions, neutral or friendly. but not enemy's, which is that way by default.
Nathaniel Bell
What I mean is they wont sell to neutrals. As a non-faction/loner you would have to become friendly before getting access to better equipment.
Nathan Fisher
>thinking it would work in the first place kill yourself, and i mean it this time
To the anons who posted his hand meshes in the last thread, who merged the SVD anims for me and the one who helped me to learn the basics of .skl and skls editing - Thank you. All my problems are not existent anymore
Liam Hill
Would a TAZ merge work?
Adrian Price
yeah could just do like the discounts right below it
so say you wanted the player to need to have +200 towards mercs buy_supplies = {=actor_goodwill_ge(killer:200) =heavy_pockets_functor}
or whatever faction
Chase Evans
no problem m8
are you able to do the omf's without it causing crashing? if so, cool shit.

Jaxson Perez
Yup, it all works now
Hunter Cook
cool shit man, glad to hear.

I've already ported skorpion and now I'm doing Kar98

Elijah Rivera
I fucking wish for a mod, that makes NATO guns rare, with WWII and Soviet weapons as main weapon for like 90% of stalkers, leaving fancy guns to best mercs. That's how it would be IRL, at least: weapons from Cold War stashes and compounds for everyone and rare expensive guns for foreign mercs.
Gavin Hernandez
what does reputation in coc do?
William Cooper
I think I might be able to do that as well. It would be that only faction's veteran's would use the top tier oper8or guns and I'm on a really good way on doing that. Just have to port the surplus weapons over
Evan Robinson
Anyone got some cool stories to share? This one was when I was playing CoC
>In Darkscape when a heavy storm sets in >Blistering wind and torrential rain coming down >I'm low on food and starving >Night comes >I'm REALLY starving and low on ammo >I take to the road and stalk some military types >Wait until they get far enough away from their buddies before I spring my ambush >take them both by surprise, kill them both, take their food >Continue onwards down the road >I need to sneak past a military checkpoint along the bridge so I can escape into the dark valley >CAN'T SEE SHIT CAPTAIN >Know they have snipers on the bridge >I take up position a good distance from my target >Lighting cracks the sky >Wait >Every time lightning strikes the whole area gets lit up >Can target the guy on the bridge! >I time my shots and wait for the lightning to illuminate the area >Line up my shot >Another crack of thunder and lightning >Take the shot >The world goes dark >The next flash I can see a sniper's body drooping off the bridge
That was by far the coolest moment I've had; Timing my shots and waiting for the lightning to give me a clear shot. I don't think I'll ever play a game that organically let's me do cool things like this. I just had to take a step back and realize how fucking cool the whole scenario was.
Share with me your cool stories, stalkers
Thomas Diaz
What I thought would be: CS use almost only shotguns and Mosin/SVT, rare PMs, TTs, PPSh (weapons allowed to civilian population in Russia, not sure about Ukraine laws as I'm Russian), bandits -- same as CS + AKS-74U, TT, Fort, PM, Bizons etc (civ weapons + police weapons, received through raids, Chechnya-style), loners - same as bandits + more WWII weapons (Cold War compounds have plenty of that, look at Donbass conflict, both sides use Mosins ffs), probably some bakelite AKMs. Military uses AK-74s, SVDs, PKMs, RPDs, PMs only (unification), Duty, as military-friendly faction have same weapons but with more freedom, Freedom uses mostly WWII and Cold War gear, as well as Monolith (they're fanatics, not millionaires).
Forgot anyone? That's only my vision as someone who faced owning a legal weapon in Russia, so any input is appreciated. I'd also rebalance the availability/price of ammo, but I don't know exact prices on Ukrainian market.
Wyatt Cruz
You're forgetting all of the equipment that would be leftover from military raids going deep into the zone. I guess that would mostly go into the Monolith arsenal.
Ethan Ramirez
Expression : pm->m_animations.size() Function : player_hud_motion_container::load File : player_hud.cpp Line : 92 Description : motion not found [ak_105_idle_bore]
STCoP with Smurth's Dynamic HUD. What did I fuck up?
Zachary Clark
Hm, sounds plausible, but still it would be rare I think. Should work.
Gavin Cox
And the expensive stuff from mercs, got it right? I'm still thinking some elite squads of these faction's may have the top tier guns, after all this time spent in the zone
Gavin King
well?
Nathan Perry
Yeah, some mixing should be possible, but not very large. As I've said before, this amount of nato guns in a country where even buying a pistol is impossible ruins an atmosphere for me. But yeah, why not, elite teams would have expensive weapons.
Andrew James
sounds like you didnt us the compatability patch for stcop included with smurths hud
ak_105_idle_bore exists in wpn_hand_ak74u_hud_animation.omf which is part of the patch
if you did the patch, do it again. overwriting everything.
Christopher Ward
You can't go too heavy on the realism to begin with, the Zone would eventually run out of living souls with the PC running around and killing 30 people a day.
Make tiers for each faction, top tiers get better gear, lower tier get lesser gear.
Landon Barnes
>Make tiers for each faction, top tiers get better gear, lower tier get lesser gear.
That's how it works for now

>You can't go too heavy on the realism to begin with, the Zone would eventually run out of living souls with the PC running around and killing 30 people a day.
I do realize that, but giving lower tier weapons wouldn't make it this bad (though I wouldn't call AKM low-tier).
Matthew Rogers
>go to waste processing plant to make some bucks >it's filled with bandits as I expected >take position in the bridge, hide behind a few pipes >snipe 5 confused niggas before they spot me >a thought firefight ensues since the AI is accurate as fuck >eventually the plants fall silent >walk there, start looting corpses >quick check the inside of the building, can't see anyone >start looting a corpse near a door in the balcony >gunfire as soon as I finish it >he hits me, my health is not great and I'm bleeding >I run, jump down the balcony and take cover >use a stimpak and a bandage >spend the next 20 IRL minutes playing cat and mouse with the motherfucker >I'm mostly getting shot at from somewhere I can't pinpoint since I'm always moving, so is he >can't run because I want my loot, I'm overburdened and that means covering a lot of open space >eventually come to the ground level where there are a lot of large pillars >motherfucker shoots me, this time I see him and run for cover >grab my double-barreled shotgun and move out >he fires at me, I fire both barrels at the faggot hitting him in the stomach. He falls down. >I got hit too, really low on health and wheezing as I walk >approach him, he's still alive but writhing in pain in the ground >slowly walk towards him, reloading my double barrel >talk to him, he asks for mercy and offers a stash >I look down my sights and fire both barrels in his head For a minute I almost felt pity, felt tempted to let him go. We fought hard as fuck to survive and I almost got killed. He wouldn't spare me though so I didn't spare him. pic unrelated

AMK Autumn
Ryan Martinez
That's what Autumn Aurora does for SoC. Not to this degree, of course. >You can't go too heavy on the realism to begin with, the Zone would eventually run out of living souls with the PC running around and killing 30 people a day. The Zone should already be more desolate.
Landon Fisher
>That's what Autumn Aurora does for SoC. That's SoC, not CoC ((((
Alexander Richardson
Yeah I know ;_;

Am I the only who thinks that artifact handling is unnecessarily complex in Misery even by the mod's standards? I mean, having to deal with shitloads of different containers which most of the time don't even protect you 100% from artifact radiation for negligible effects is just bothersome, I just end up selling the stuff. It would be a pretty cool mod if it wasn't for this.
Jack Sanchez
I wish the inventory system in stalker was more complex. I get one gun in each should stuff but I'd like if we could add holsters to specific suits to add a slot for pistols/knives. Maybe add some management for magazines that are in your backup or ready to be reloaded so pulling out your pistol would be useful in some situations.

>Be Clear Sky >Days in the Zone, when I come across my new best friend >His name is Mark Tarantula >We travelled for a long time and went on many raids together >We teamed up to do good in the zone >Suddenly, a Loner asked for help with his friend being taken hostage >We agree and are marching through the swamp to Agroprom >We take the hostage with us as he was just kneeling in front of a tree >I heard noises of mutants and gunshots as suddenly the gunshots were aimed at us >Decided to retreat since it is way too many >We make it to the Agroprom Institute building A and take a rest >But suddenly the god damn Military decides to assault the base. >It was far too many >The hostage decides to play the hero as he grabbed his Double barreled and nailed one of the soldiers as he peeked behind a wall >He gets the attention of other soldiers and gets gunned down by AKs >Me and Mark have been able to shoot down some of the grunts in the distance but snipers were a problem. >As Mark saw the death of the hostage, he turned into into the absolute madman >He whipped out his PKM, shredding militarys to bits, while I give him cover from snipers with my SKS >Standing under heavy fire, he did not care if he got hit. His will was stronger >Making our way slowly to the entrance of their base as I notice the BTR shooting at me >I tell Mark to give me covering fire as I smoked the BTR with grenades >It gets blown up as I hear the whizz of Marks PKM killing a soldier who tried to sneak up on me >More Soldiers head our way but he does not stop here >He gives surpressing fire as I walked behind the trees, ambushing the soldiers who were hiding behind the sandbags. >Mark manages to kill some reinforcements, who were running but could not get into cover >But suddenly >I hear a Sniper hitting Mark fataly in his chest >I was able to shoot the sniper in the head quick enough and repel the still coming reinforcements >Mark is laying in his own pool of blood right

Where do I find artifacts in CoC? Tried several anomaly areas with detector, no die. My belt is empty :(
Logan Roberts
You deserve it for being a goody two shoes. I play as a merc, take hitman jobs and give no fucks about other factions.
Logan Perez
get a better detector
Robert Bennett
You're forgetting that there's no law in the Zone and it's flooded with smuggled weapons, and not just military weapons all sorts of guns are used by mercenaries and stalkers with the money for them.
James Thompson
Search more anomalies, there's so many maps and anomalies in CoC that it makes artifacts harder to find.

How do I protect myself from the psi-radiation in Yantar? I bought the helmet that was calibrated, yet the second I entered the lab underneath Yantar, I was immediately killed (and ragequit because I was playing Ironman)
