I'm a casual who recently followed the foolproof homebrew guide but with all this talk about bans and TOS, I'm worried for the worst.

Do you have any tips for newbies regarding not getting banned, making sure your firmware is relevant and any other general upkeep?

Download the WoodR4Launcher.rar and install the cia in there. Then, if you have wood firmware on your r4, you can launch it using that app.

"genuine" r4 are probably only compatible with the original DS or the DS Lite at most. They stopped being produced long ago

There was a Reddit thread some days/weeks ago discussing this but I can't find it. I think the R4s with a dash (-) in them have time bombs.

I'm convinced that this whole "bounty" thing is really just for preventing further exploits. Once you're in (assuming you have a9lh) there's nothing they can do short of performing memory checks or implementing major overhauls to how the console works. It might not even be possible to do that.

Why won't Decrypt9WIP boot!? I followed the guide and have had CFW running for ages but now when I try to boot Decrypt9WIP from Homebrew launcher it always closes back to the menu.

A friend of mine had two of them as him and his sister both had R4 cards for the original DS. I bought mine from him about a month ago and it works fine on my N3DS so I'm pretty sure it's genuine.

Kind of a dumb question here but would save data from a NA version of Pokemon Moon work with a JP copy? If not, do we have a save editor that can change the region or is it not that simple? I want to import a physical JP copy of the game but I want my save data to also work with it. I know that all copies of the game have multiple language options.

But they do. NTR and GW negatively affect the userbase, even if it's just one person. Then there's all the hacked Pokemon that occasionally flood the GTS/WT.

But it still makes no sense why screenshots and region free can't be added to the base OS, the former can be done with just NTR which means they could easily make it an option, and the latter is a flick of a number.

You've always been able to do that with gen 1 as well. It's nothing new. If you had a gameshark back then, you were that kid that could get anyone a Mew with no questions asked. The difference now is that a Gameshark isn't needed.

Also, there's nothing wrong with wanting perfect Pokemon, cloned, hacked, bred, or otherwise. It's not like you can go online with illegitimate Pokemon anyway, illegitimate meaning they know moves they aren't supposed to learn and whatnot.

People always say this but don't post any evidence (from Wireshark or whatever) and mine's probably shown it using dev menu/FBI for years and they haven't done anything about it.
