Should I as a first car? It's so fucking sexy Veeky Forums, hold me.
Are all bmws really that hard to maintain and shit?
I wont drive it daily and I got a first cousin who's a mechanic that can help me fix it and shit for free.

>"first cousin who's a mechanic that can help me fix it and shit for free."

Please don't do this to them.

Every slightly-mechanical minded car enthusiasts' worst nightmare is having their family members come to them for ever little car problem they have.
ESPECIALLY when wanting them to work on it for free since "they are family".

At least buy him a case of beer or something.

>Euro plates
Should be fine. Just follow the manual.

hes the one who offered actually
we were talking about what car I should get as a first one
he was like mercedes bmw or volswagen
I was like those are a bitch to maintain or so i heard on the internet and he said he'd help

Are you in the US or in Europe? That makes a big difference in terms of maintenance costs.

Not op but looking for abmw as well. Is a2007 525 good? I've been looking for comfort for highway an a6 speed so I'm not worried about it being base model. Any help?

Your cousin is a bro.
I think if you live in Europe, parts costs should be significantly cheaper.

The issue with BMWs is not their reliability, but rather the cost of the parts once they break (At least, that was my experience in the US).

Bump

Owned a 335xi and e92 m3 for 5 years and they are no where near as costly as any fucktard on Veeky Forums, who has never even sat in one, will tell you.

This
Parts last forever and a day but they cost the same as a new shitbox when they break and you need an expert to fix them sometimes

Yes. No. One of the best normal usable cars you can get.

It's good if it's a manual. Then do the CDV delete and you're golden.

The only bad thing about a 3 series is that you'll never be able to appreciate shitboxes like Civic again. It'll just make no sense to you anymore to drive in a loud, FWD, weak 4 banger car.

>that piece of shit brick with those disgusting fat headlights
>sexy

Jesus Christ you fucking nigger, get fucked

No. Don't do it. Don't buy a car where the car company doesn't trust you to be able to check your own oil.

>shit rear window visiblity
>shit shoulder visiblity
>massive fucking B and C pillars
>visor covers 60% of the windshield
>shit quality interior
>indicator light switch is flaccid and non responsive
>steering wheel is so thick it covers all instrument dials above the 40km/h mark
>good luck figuring out how to unlock the passenger doors from the inside
>extremely tiny rearview mirrors
>valet boot switch in the glovebox that prevents you from opening your trunk electronically if you are unaware of it
yeah sure, buy this car it just doesn't work for me, that's all

You're absolutely retarded. It's just a sensor instead of a dipstick. It probably simplified the packaging under the hood, that's why they did it. But yeah they reintroduced it in B series engines.

5er BMW als erstes Auto?

Läuft bei dir. Lass es auf dein Vater als Zweitwagen versichern.

macht einen großen Unterschied.

Rechne trotzdem 1000 oder 2000 Euro dazu, falls was kaputt geht. Achja und lebe damit, dass jeder denkt du bist ein Kanake.

t. Ford Focus MK1 Fahrer

The fuck you're talking about. E90 has great visibility.

bmw apologist spotted.
Now proceed to explain why BMW repeatedly lost to a FWD Daewoo in touring car racing.

Almost in the same seat as OP, live in Sweden, currently drive around in a e91 320d and want to swap to something else, petrol for one, I cant stand diesel, sounds fucking horrible, and I much prefer high reving and it hardly even matters anymore when the diesel costs just as much as the petrol. Anyways, because of Veeky Forums memes ive been looking into honda accord, subaru impreza/legacy and such. Should I keep looking at other jap brands or should I just swap in my 320d for like a 325i/328i? Need something that can somewhat survive the salt we love to spew out on every road during winter aswell.

As you first car? Probably not. You're better off driving a shitbox for the first few months, at least until you feel confident driving something you can't replace.

Halogen headlight what the fuck OP. You buy a BMW and go for candle lights.

Because race cars are nothing like production cars. Chassis is stiffened, suspension is completely a custom job, engine, drivetrain also (or it's seriously upgraded using forged components, forced induction).

Looks like a factory engine to me. granted with a custom intake and exhaust system. And aside from the intake system, everything used on the Lacetti WTCC cars was available aftermarket.

>lebe damit, dass jeder denkt du bist ein Kanake
>Lass es auf dein Vater
Bei deinem Deutsch bist du wohl einer?

yeah im from europe Albania actually
everyone has mercs here cause its cheap here I guess
Ill be buying the car from Germany though

Not related to BMW but how would an Audi a8 d2 be as a first car? I'm live in Finland and it seems like a nice car to drive in the winter. Is it a bitch to maintain? Found one for 3800€ with 192 625 miles

>Are all bmws really that hard to maintain and shit?

No, they are very easy to work on.

Depends where you are in the world - in the UK parts are very cheap but I believe they are more expensive in the US.

I have a E60 545i, it is a great car. Not had many issues with it and the ones that have popped up have been easily and cheaply resolved.

>albania

lmao of course you are getting a shitty "new" base model bmw u filthy albanian

>shitty new base model
idk what any of that means
I just like how it looks doesnt have have more than 120k km and is within my budget that's all
the rest were older model like 2003 2002 this is 2007.
If you're here to meme we shouldve talked about your mom instead.

Get off my board you cheap copy of a turk

Get an E46 330ci

>pre-lci E90
>halogen headlights

Honestly, this is enough reason right here to avoid this car. BMW 3 series halogens were recently rated to have dangerously low levels of light output.

90's will allow you to change fluids, 00's and later won't really let you

This, there is no good reason to buy a E90 over an E46, if you're not going to tune or mod it.

"its so fucking sexy hold me"

IT has the styling of a Toyota Camry... Oh you mean the badge is sexy?

>there is no good reason to buy a E90 over an E46
sick bait

E92 looks better, more reliable, faster, comfier, better tech, more efficient. Need I go on? Fuckin every E46 is falling apart inside and out.

Is owning a mercedes rough in America? I've heard of expensive maintenance, but that is it. I am looking at buying a used 2005 c series with 103k miles for 6500.

>5er BMW
Das ist ganz klar ein Manta mit einem Bodykit

Things will breakdown. For me, mirror motor stopped working, starter motor stopped, moon roof motor behaves weird at times, accessory belt, valve gasket leakage, breakage of windshield fluid reservoir while taking a turn at high g's. water pump luckily did not fail for me. All this within 2 years of ownership of an E90.
a slight nudge caused headlight lens crack...had to replace one headlight. cost at dealer $2000. Ended up buying a used for $500.

buy an infinite G. Please save yourself a bunch of troubles. For calm serene ride, and damped lower level vibrations, go with a lexus IS

I heard that Audi automatic transmission can fail and cost a hellua lot to repair. And I don't think you can get an A8 in manual. I'd avoid it, unless you're brave enough to tackle all the mechanical stuff yourself.

?? gigga watt ??

>what did he mean by this

Keep the oil changed, don't red line everywhere and it should be fine. Thats what my dad did with his 10 535i. But whenever you need tires, brakes, almost anything, the parts will be expensive. Even with free labor, these cars are expensive to do regular maintenance on. It's the nature of big German automotive.

whats red line?

It's when the motors goes all BRAP BRAP BRAP

oh I wont do that user i promise

I'd spank you silly if you'd even dare to do such a thing

what does that thing show anyway
is that an indicator when to switch gears?

It's the BRAPsx1000/Minute meter it shows you how many respects you get from the lads. For example, one the meter it shows that you get about 8000 BRAPs per minute. Das alot of BRAPs

b8?

ur tachometer shows u your rpms so u know when and if to shift

if I reach 8000 will I get me some sweet pussy?

no i just pretty much felt the car and when to switch gears desu never looked at it...
