Group A/early WRC was best

Meh. Sub 300hp modern WRC cars are faster. Rallycross and hillclimb cars are in another dimension of performance. Watch non-WRC events if you want Group B levels of performance.

it's the best in the sense that it was a standard road car evolved and not a purpose built ground up racecar. It had major flaws, handled poorly, was tuned and driven well past its limits to stay competitive. It defines Gr. B

hmm depens. a big part of group b (at least for me) was the differences between the cars. front engine turbo 5 cylinder vs mid engine v6 na, vs mid engine 4 with huge turbo lag and still a lot of rwd cars. its the fact that the cars had different strengths basically.
