Indeed, I feel that balancing shmups with other genres reduces the odds of getting burned out of a shmup. Unfortunately, I do tend to play non-shmups a lot more often than shmups, though...

Nah only the fat and the weak, the joys of being athletic is colds last a day or 2 and get sweated out very quickly. Last one i had barely had any effect bar some sniffles.

So i decided to give DDPR another lookin lads and fucking 1.51 turns out to be actually awesome, 1 loop instead of 2 and still get hibachi (just reached him and got decimated). This game is kinda sick as much as i hate to say it, some cunt tell me some more about the other modes?

Anyone else doing this thing that when you play you pretend to be kidnapped and the kidnapper wants you to score a certain amout of points or else he is going to kill your parents? I like to do this a lot, I also somtimes imagine that some stranger on the street asks me to play in his "secret contest" which turns out to be a shmup contest and that the points I score are added to my bank account. I usually play well on those, I call them, "fantasy credits"; that's also one of the main reasons I dislike super-high-scoring games like DFK, it just makes my fantasy credits get ad absurdum.

i kinda envy your imagination. all i can do mentally to motivate myself is to think things like "you can do this, you can win, win win win" when i finally get to the hard parts without wasting lifes to stupid shit in early levels.
