So GT is basically, scripted, unfunny shit. Opinions?

Just got around to watching it last night.

It was enjoyable, but I don't know if I'll continue to watch it. The Ebola track is kind of lame and the NASCAR driver is horrific. His lines were all over the place.

May could've set a faster lap.

It's literally top gear.

I like it. It just feels like the continuation of top gear. Though i must admit the spec ops bit was a bit forced.

I slightly prefer the obviously scripted comedy stuff like today's movie parody to how they would pretend to be doing non-scripted fuck-ups when it's so obviously staged. Of course ideally I want to see them seriously try to do something and fuck up in the process like early seasons cheap car challenges, but it's still entertaining, I had a good laugh during those special forces segments.
One thing I don't really feel so far is their track, it's both sort of boring for filming car tests and still boring when the fatass from NASCAR goes round it. Maybe it's because of lighting, the place looks very gloomy, while old track looked fine even during rainy days.

Why not just download an episode off piratebay? It only takes like ten minutes unless you live in a third-world country or Australia.

I still say most of it can improve. I actually like the eboladrome, but The American needs to fucking go.

I mean, I loved Stig, and I know they can't bring him back, but this is pretty much why the Stig was so much better. The NASCAR guy's driving and banter are both fucking horrific.

When Jeremy started reviewing the car while driving through the action shit I thought they might actually be able to redeem that segment but nah. That part of it was brilliant but it wasn't worth slogging through the other 25 minutes of it. I still have hope that they'll do more shitbox-y stuff later in the season or at worst next season but they really need to tone down this overproduced crap.

Then that would make any statement of lap time fraudulent. While a cable or private stream offering can get away with it, if this show was on public airwaves, it would have to meet with FCC requirements on fraudulent representations.

The whole sequence in Jordan was awful. The jokes in the studio segments are pretty bad; they need better writers. I've enjoyed everything else so far in the first two episodes.

Given the fact that the whole production of the show was and still is under tremendous pressure I think they're doing a great job so far.

Sure, the obvious script is showing a lot and the American is just awful, but all three still manage to somehow work their magic of old. I'm fact I actually like the ironic style of the show that's mocking the old programme.

So even if the only thing I enjoy about GT was that Clarkson, Hammond and May enjoy their job that would still be a solid basis for a show. I don't see a lot of reason to complain.

what we need:

1. a different driver, the American needs to fuck off
2. SPECIALS. go for a trip through Mexico, Russia, that kinda thing
3. time, try to make it feel less scripted.

They admit the best part of the show is the traveling, wacky situations and unscripted banter yet they have none of it in this show.

Maybe when this gets canceled or one of the eventually kick the bucket the others will come forward and start whinging about Amazon just like the whinged about the BBC because no matter how much fun they are to watch i cant help but think there is a reason they are how they are especially behind the scenes even clarkson admitted TGUK and their friendships wherent going to last

This is the mistake I made, I thought being called 'the grand tour' with every episode in a different location, it was going to be like a constant series of specials.

Instead of getting them travelling to each destination in a shitbox we get a different view from their studio tent.

I hope next weeks show is closer to the quality of the first one.

I never really liked TG though, besides for the cheap car challenges and specials. Those are always GOAT.

The Jordan segment of the second episode was complete shit. Otherwise its good. Dying celebrities is great fun.

I didn't even bother attempting to watch the second episode after everything I heard about it, but something piqued my interest.

Did you not watch the first episode either? He's the Stig replacement. His gimmick is being a stereotype of the American South (complaining about commies, foreign things, liking Trucks, etc.). He talks a lot, and his jokes are falling flat for a lot of people.

I get that they legally were not allowed to create anything like the Stig, but this might have been an overcorrection.

so far it's been fun but these two episodes are the parts of Top Gear that usually bored me. The fancy cars are cool sure but like everyone else said I'm hoping for some unique challenges and specials.
