Brand ideology if you will goes to Subaru, owning a Honda is a fine financial decision but owning a Subaru is the same plus a lifestyle.
At the end of the day Honda will ALWAYS be a Honda...but a Subaru will always be something more. Also I have never heard any stories about Hondas saving the day

Subaru got good in the mid 2000's when they brought back the turbo trims.
Now they've removed most of that, made the outback an SUV, made the forester slower, and impletment CVTs on most models that aren't base. The WRX/sti haven't improved at all since 2004.
Honda died in 2001. Subaru died in 2009. Now both cater to the exact same crowd: soccer moms.

They are the only brand that offers awd at the prices they do . 2. They offer performance variants that are actually good. 3 are literally the best family car / commuters in America because of this.
