Nope. Not every story about 2 diferent races fighting each other is like Zero-ZX.
Gunvolt is much of its own thing, we keep comparing it to Zero-ZX because Inti did those before.
It's more like "Oh, Fuck. Character A is like character B from Zero-ZX " instead of "this is character definitely-not-A from Gunvolt"
Gunvolt's story won't replace the need for a ZX3

It's not just the characters, both games followed the exact same plot and themes. 1, Adepts in charge of the government persecute their own kind to keep the peace. 2, Adept from the government leaves and tries to exterminate all humans in pursuit of a Paradise for her own kind. Muse is the Dark Elf. Kamizono is Dr. Light with a bit of Dr. Veil, especially if he gets pulled out of the grave in 3.
It's a perfect mirror of the themes and roles they played in Zero and ZX, some just got introduced earlier because they'd already done it once.

The only way to properly end ZX3 anyway is to kill 99% of humans again and leave the world to the Carbons, and good luck getting Capcom to greenlight that when they can just procrastinate and push it off for another series. I'd rather get nothing than see them fuck it up like that again just because they won't pass up a chance to milk a franchise even when they hate making games for it.

There are THOUSANDS of years between zx and legends still so it doesn't have to end like that.
