The pet itself usually has some funny dialogue pertaining to the skill.

Which quest? Maybe it wasn't a glitch, but delayed. Like RFD gives keys for each part of it completed.

I don't see how the price spike would affect me not getting the adamantite. I would think more people would go to mine it to sell it on the GE. But it's dead hours time so no one is around.
First off, people are selling addy, they're just selling it for a higher price than your order. Secondly, nobody actually mines the ore, they get it from monster drops and spring cleaners.

It's better to hang back and collect resources if you find resources in rooms near a deposit box dont waste time moving forward to get limited combat/exploration totems that everyone else is carrying around.
Get 1st/2nd and the only time you get a small lamp is if RNG bones you and you dont have cards to recover.
