As an early level gladiator, I find it hard to keep emnity, especially when a thaumaturge is on team.
Do I need to be doing the combo that regens MP over the one that generates single target emnity so I can spam flash or what?

If he's aoeing? Yes. On single target? No.
Early level tanking is just garbage. Enjoy SE's amazing design. It gets braindead easy at level 40 for you and 30 for warriors.

if its a large group, flash as much as you can and then restore your mp with riot blade. if its a smaller mob, use your enmity combo

No, gladiator and paladin sucks giganti amounts of dicks all the way until like level 45. What you do is

Spam flash until you're out of mp
use riot blade until you have more mp
spam flash some more

Your enmity moves dont do fucking anything and dps will out threat you even if all you do is your enmity combo.. if anyone gets pissed, just tell them you're a gladiator and they will understand unless they are an ignorant dicksucker
