Do you do your own tune ups?

do you do your own tune ups?

Ya

No

what's a tune up

Usually refers to your ignition system.
So plugs, wires, cap rotor.
But normies think it's just a magic buzz word that means you car can just get better if you do a tune up.

When you're 5 cents flat and need to push the slide in a little.

Do you do your own ECU tune?
What programs/tools did you use?
Was it a difficult process?

Yes, I change my spark plugs

just changed wires, plugs, and dizzy cap on my trucc.

runs so much better.

I've done everything to my own vehicles that doesn't require welding.

>programs

I code my own software from scratch, nerd.

>there are people don't do valve checks at factory service intervals

>band jokes on my Veeky Forums

that was pretty good

Nigga I got hydraulic lash adjusters

>not welding

That a C5?

Tfw want to tune but can runs fine and too scared of messing something up to do anything more than basic maintenance

every part has a different mile rating
spark plugs stay in until noticable loss in power
air filter every 50k
spark plug wires never
oil once every 2 years or 10k
the italian tune up once a week

I'll do anything that I have the time, tools and experience to do

A total clutch failure, transmission failure and similar would force me to have the car transported to a friend, or to a workshop

wtf is that girl pretending to do?

I kekked

KL-DE?

>oil once every 2 years or 10k

Replacing rocker trim?

Same here.

Dont trust any shop, do it all on my own.
Spark plugs, fluids, filters, things, stuff, bits, pieces.
Rolling multiple rustbuckets and will never run out of shit to mend.
Just finished putting the motor back in to my 9-5
Pictured: A non shitty version of my daily in the same color.

of coarse i do

>funnel haz threads
>no screwed in
reeeeeeeeeeeeee

I change my fluids, belts, pumps, and alternators myself yeah but the idea of a "tune-up" is a lie to sell you parts you don't need.

They dont fit there tho, the threads are for a tube that comes with the funnel

>not using a funnel specifically made for adding crankcase oil
>wat even the fuck are you doing

jk m8 but still reeeeeeeee

Close, BP-ZE. Probably uses the exact same lifters as the KL

What year BP is it? KL's stopped using HLAs in 98

Spark plug wires never, and oil every two years?

"Tune up"

It's a '97, last year of HLAs on this engine. After this they went to solid lifters I believe

Do you have a MX6?

No, don't have one, just been studying them like a motherfucker in the hopes of building one someday

Well good luck man. I've seen low mileage imported KL-ZE motors go for less than $900 before, if you can find a car with a clean body but with a blown motor that's probably the route I'd do.

whats the fucking point on spark plug wires anyways.

Uh they get old and cause misfires

>mfw the tuning slide on my sousaphone has been stuck all season
>mfw I can't do my own tune-up

>do you do your own tune ups?
Tune Ups existed back in the carburetor days. Carbs needed frequent adjustment (tuning) hence the term tune-up appeared in the vocabulary. V-belts were also the norm then instead of serpentine belts. As cars went to fuel injection and serpentine belts in addition to computer-controlled-everything, the tasks performed as part of a tune up became so few that the concept of "tune up" is basically gone. The computers in your car do all the tune ups (adjustments) now.

Instead of "tune ups" you now have scheduled maintenance events where you inspect / replace air filter, spark plugs, belts, fluids.

Don't want a ZE tho
Want to put the G4 heads and IM on a DE short block and boost it, would be fine on power and not have to deal with the headache that is the ZE VRIS system

Unless your engine is actually misfiring, there's no point in replacing them
>all this spark plug talk
>not using diesel

One time the battery on my shitbox shat itself and all lights went dark but the engine kept running so I drove home
