To put it in perspective: My supersport has the stock seat. It is pretty hard but at least it is wide enough for a normal butt. At its narrowest point it is as wide as the widest point on the Seat Concepts comfort seat on both of my dual sports. The stocks seats on those, especially the KTM, are literal assrape.

I doubt they were tight from the factory. Valves get tighter as they wear out because they start to recede into the head so gap at the lifter closes up.

I've never ridden a WR450 but it made a world of difference on my 450EXC. I recommend the standard or tall seat though, not the low cut one. The foam is thinner and the angle of the cut makes me constantly feel like sliding forward and my pants ride up into my groin.
