In all honesty, though, a moege future was inevitable anyway. Nukige and Moege have always been more consistent. This is true even in Japan.

I don't think this really counts as "memeing ourselves" when everyone with half a brain knew that Himawari was going to fail financially.

The most they can hope for now is a resurgence like Fata got where it becomes a bit of a cult hit and the sales figures go up. It's possible it will happen if it's received well enough, but it likely won't be enough to make it profitable in the long run, at least not for a long time.

I've said this before, but if Mangagamer really wants to make sure that these sort of plotge don't end up bombing they need to market to youtubers to show off the game. Imagine what someone like Pewdiepie or Markiplier showing off Fata Morgana could do to attract new people to the visual novel medium. Sekai Project was already starting to do this tactic by making that Lost Pause guy do some videos about Grisaia, Mangagamer could do it too, and probably better, since I imagine Fata Morgana would probably attract a more western audience to the medium than Grisaia would.

They also have a very poor perspective on the market, as shown numerous times over and over again, not to mention they have inflated egos and delusions of grandeur in the community, when, in reality, their influence is really minor on who buys what.

Himawari was announced like 2 years ago, though. It isn't a recent thing from MG, all of their recent licenses have been full-fledged 18+ titles.

And neither G.O. (the writer for Himawari) or Frontwing would have never allowed them to localize the original 18+ Doujin version anyway.

Does it matter that Himawari is doing poorly? No. There's a possibility it will do better if it's well received and worth-of-mouth spreads. Even if it doesn't though, MG still has an entire library that regularly sells perfectly fine, not to mention they're about to release likely their biggest seller to date: Rance.

Removing porn from Rance would obviously be a disaster as it would turn away the audience who knows it is an H-game, but the point is that Rance isn't a success because someone took an RPG and added porn, but because it is Rance and has built up a reputation thanks to the Sengoku fan translation over more than half a decade.

MangaGamer has had plenty of H-titles which were disappointments as well on their own storefront, even with good titles.

Don't worry, the H scenes are shit anyway and there's only 3 of them in the entire title
