Take V8 engine

>take V8 engine
>cut one cylinder from each bank
>increase displacement a tiny amount

Hey just like that you've got an engine with near identical power and torque as the V8, but with less weight and better fuel economy. Apparently they call it a V6.

And now take both banks of the engine engine, place them in a line and you have the godengine known as a Long 6

Inherently unbalanced and stupid, it's even more of a short-sighted and unnecessary design than a V10.

>an inline 6 is inherently unbalanced
8/20 bait

Beew, Pohk, Cheeken

Same displacement V6 is more unbalanced than a V8. Larger pistons and other internals means it can't rev as high. If they both displace the same amount then they will consume the same amount of fuel.

> it's even more of a short-sighted and unnecessary design than a V10.

:(

>take i4 engine
>add one more cylinder
>balace is now garbage
>less power than a v6, more than an i4 but at worse efficiency, costs more than both
>spine-chilling eargasmic 2:5 harmony between firing and crankshaft
worth it 100%

inb4 90 degree bank angle

>Take I4 engine
>cut it in half
>90ยบ vee angle
>it's now 100000% better but too expensive to produce and hard to fit under a fashionable hood and above a transaxle

fuck the auto industry

>Take I4
>Chop 2 outer cylinders off
>Shakes worse than a 1-cylinder
>Sounds worse than a 3
>Go take a nap because Italian

>Inherently unbalanced and stupid,

>inline

I think thats how the Buick 3800 came about.

They are great engines for reliability and packaging. Not great at much else though.

You could mod the balls out of them too. Especially the supercharged variants

this is how the 3800 came about.
They chopped off a pair of the cylinders, kept the same manufacturing process, and the result was an extremely reliable, if somewhat anemic stock, engine that powered most of the GM 90 luxobarges.
The key flaw you guys are forgetting here is that the engines were only put into GM cars. Meaning, even though the engine can be worked with, a turd is still a turd.

>take V4 engine
>rotate the banks till they're opposed on a flat plane
>add a turbo
Hey just like that you've got an engine that can sell Carmys to 20 something Monster Energy enthusiasts.

commodores

>Hey just like that you've got an engine that can sell Carmys to 20 something Monster Energy enthusiasts
kek

Now have the crankshafts with the same rotation tightness of firing order just only for the same power responsiveness as a V8.

Protip: you can't

Better fuel economy, almost certainly.

but
>near identical power and torque as a v8
>no
>just no

Congratulations, you've created a rattle box that will shake itself to death.

Why don't we just make a 5L inline-4 user? Surely that will be even better!

Hey fuck you man

>Carrera GT
>LFA
>Viper
>R8

V10's are GOAT

>5l inline-4 will rattle itself to death

There are hundreds of thousands of N/A i4 engines over 5.0L in dump trucks today that outlast the most balanced passenger i6

And guess what they rev to user

20,000?

Isn't that what the FRS/86/BRZ has minus the turbo?

this is a good post

Still a GM product

Is this your first day on Veeky Forums?

Those 90s gm luxobarges were the most reliable vehicles on the face of this earth. They were comfy as fuck, its like driving a couch.

>>take V8 engine
>>Remove 25% percent of power, add rocking couple that destablises engine internals
>>add weight to said engine internals
Great idea OP.

bait (You)

now take 2 of those god machines and place them together in a V formation and you have the Holy of Holies

>valves

I want a 4.6L I6 with a solenoid valvetrain.

>implying i dont want to rev to 10k

>dump trucks rev to 10k

Yeah after you divide by 10

I hope for you that youre not serious, you sad idiot

>Essentially writing "variable valve timing" and "overhead cam" in gigantic letters on your engine.

As if this was some sort of space age technology. True ricer shit right there, go drive your vape mobile into a ditch, you shit.

Wut

>90 degree V6
Don't forget to add a balance shaft.

thats stock

That's why its so bad.

American cars still don't have VVT, lol.

>he doesn't know about volumetric effciency

...

Ya they do. Basic shit models might not.

>i6
>unbalanced
I know this is bait but fuck this is too much to ignore.

On a board where everybody just repeats shitposts as arguments, a select subgroup of these retards don't even fully read the shitposts.

>take two boxer engines
>cut two cylinders off each
>weld engines together
>make half the same power of the original two boxers

>Take two v8s
>Weld them together
>Add four turbos
>Fastest production car ever for like 2 years

>Take 4 Doritos
>Weld them together
>dip them in ranch dressing.

>take two i4s
>cut two cylinders off each
>weld engines together
>realize you've done something pointless

>take five dotitos
>weld two onto front of 305 v8, three on the back
>>turbo the dorotos and supercharge the v8
>put an AC clutch on the v8 so it can be turned off
>also cylinder deactivation on all 8 cylinders
>you now have a god machine with both low end grunt and 10,000RPM grunt

>what is a balance shaft

the bypass is chain driven

This is true

>responding to Alphonse

inline 5s are glorious

i've had this weird dream of putting a Volvo 5 cyl, preferably the one out of the 850 R into a Porsche 924 or something

>>take V8 engine
>>cut one cylinder from each bank

>
> take two I-6 diesels
> drop them in a tank
> save Europe
> again

Underrated

>take i4
>install it upside down
>gravity is now pulling the pistons down
>now you don't need gas

...

user got it right

Yeah, that's the SBC and 4.3 V6.

> just like that you've got an engine with near identical power and torque

>take I6
>cut in half
Now you have the perfect engine to drive your wife to get fucked by tyrone

Yea and what's it to you?

>Literally france

You only need one cylinder when driving your wife to get fucked by Jaykwon

>Being on Veeky Forums without knowing VTEC is more than vvt
Why the fuck are you here?

Hauling your fat ass and your whale of a wife on one cylinder? I don't think so

>Grab briggs and straton single piston
>Cut in half
>Put in v angle of 90 degrees
>Repeat process 6 more times
>Daisy chain engine to produce no power whatsoever but the strangest noise known to mankind, used to signal alien spacecraft who will be the only life forms to make any sense of the noise

worth it 1000000%

fpbp

inline 6 a god engine

what are you 8 years old?

Just get one of those old Audi 5 cylinders, the 924 already uses an Audi engine anyway so it's a pretty common and well documented swap.

Kek. European cars in a nutshell

this thread needs more Twin Six

Does that engine power a wasp?

Not until late 2000's and like you said, not the basic models.
How does it feel to be 20 years behind everyone else?
Inb4 "but pushrods..."

Agreed.

beginners guide to the inline 5 cylinder engine
vyoutube.com/watch?v=WtrhQo-XP6E&ab_channel=rsvrdg2

Why does it need an air compressor?

If wasps come with two wheels, then yes.

My dick

Only an idiot actually thinks a V8 is up to the task of a V6.

oh man how savage would it be if someone had a carrera gt with the vanity plate "RIP PAUL" or "PW KILR"
