While he may be lying, it is true in washington state that you cannot use unjust force against a burglar in your home. You will be arrested for it. That has happened in my suburb city a few years ago as the standard homeowner defense tactic "I was scared for my life so I used self defense" failed to work against the burglar's good black lives matter lawyer.
