Alright, script for surplus weapons is done. Now for the testing. And a shoutout to all - I can do multiple versions of the script, so each can suit the likings. For now, there's the absolute old soviet milsurp gear (SVT, Mosins, SKS, shitloads of pistols and hunting guns) with better weapons carried sparcely by elite stalkers. I'm open for other ideas for that stuff, just give me a shot

make the army carry soviet weapons only, i.e. aks, abakans, vals and other shit also based on their ranking and remove nato stuff from their loadouts

make more experienced stalkers carry a variety of weapons both nato and soviet

make monolith use mainly high end soviet weapons

duty same as military

and hobo loners and bandits should use soviet milsurp, while a bit more experienced bandits should use better soviet stuff

That's how it works for now. Few threads earlier some user recommended something similiar, although Freedom uses milsurp gear as well, monolith too, paraphrasing - "They're fanatics, not millionaires". Mercs still use high-end nato weapons

First time playing CoC. Spawned in Zaton as a loner and I gotta admit, the world feels pretty dead. Not much activity going on around me, and all the quests I've taken from NPCs are a million miles away in the swamps, cordon, or Agroprom. Is this normal?

bandits and monolith should have a wide range of guns. bandits get whatever they can loot off of other stalkers and monolith are brain washed stalkers from other factions

Oh really? I didn't think there was a main quest line in CoC. How do I disable the scorcher to get more NPCs up north?

Am I reading this right? It looks like the AKS-74U shooting rifle rounds is in every way worse statistically than the MP5A1 firing pistol rounds. Am I missing something here?

they're legal in most countries and they're more versatile than double barrels

make sure u give the PP19 bizon some love, it never gets enough in these mods.

against unarmored targets the two are most likely largely the same, but against anything wearing a light bulletproof vest to the heaviest exo, the AK will fare better if the mod isn't retarded

those bars don't take into account the k_hit of the ammo. Most likely that 5.45 does more damage than 9mm, without even considering the hit_power of the gun, which is what those bars show

also let's not forget the k_ap of the ammo. If the 5.45 doesn't have higher k_pierce and p_ap than the 9mm, the mod maker is retarded.

There really aren't enough pump action shotguns, especial short ones. Stalker mods have never really had an abundance of short shotguns aside from the TOZ cutoffs.

On that note, I think slugs are really underpowered, they should do more damage than 7.62x51, while buckshot on the other hand, is overpowered against big game.

Seems good, to be fair only Freedom and Mercs seemed to have a high concentration of NATO guns in the game, Loners / Monolith can be found with them but they carry whatever they can find and there's no organization with either of those two. Generally, I think the area around Dead City / Army Warehouses would be the only place in the Zone where 5.56 would be the most common.

As for Ecologists, I never pictured them much as fighters, I imagine they'd be given submachine guns, pump action shotguns, and PDWs like the MP7 for self defense.

Stuff like ceramic armor might stop slugs, but soft armor, and dyneema poly armor would get fucked up hardcore by it.

Slugs don't really have to penetrate armor to be effective. They have enough kinetic energy to do stuff like break bones and cause internal damage without penetrating.

Nah, clear sky isn't backed by westerners like freedom. They mainly use mid tier soviet weaponry and that's exactly what they should be using.

In addition to that, most of the traders suck, because each trader tends to sell a bit of everything, they should sell what their faction uses, and Neutral traders should have more diverse inventory.

Really? I've never thought of semi-auto shotguns to be anything special. They cost more of course, but they aren't exactly rare weapons. They'd probably be more common than any western weapon (MP5, M16, etc) in the zone.

I mean I own a semi-auto shotgun in real life and I don't need any special permits or anything for it. Definitely cheaper than buying an AK-74 or 47. Semi-auto shotguns have been around basically as long as any shotguns have.

I don't know where you live, but depending on the country, semi autos can be in a completely different category than pump actions

That got me thinking. Why exactly is Freedom one of the factions that prefers western weaponry? The way that I've always interpreted Freedom having NATO weapons is that they get Western weapons dumped on them by suppliers using them.

I think both Freedom and Mercs have pretty much the same supply chain, but it's divided up into two hands, Mercs get overt Western support, while Freedom get covert, or indirect Western support, as in, they may not be even aware that they are being supplied as a way to push Western interests.

How scary is CoP? I played SoC but had to have a buddy play the scary parts for me. I'm starting up CoP for the first time and it doesn't seem too bad so far but I want to know if I'm gonna need to call in a friend to tag team this at any point

I guess the Pripyat tunnel under the Jupiter plant can be a little scary since it's dark and Snorks are everywhere. There's also a cool bloodsucker lair mission, but it's not as bad as you'd think since you've got a friendly NPC with you. It's definitely not as scary as the underground SoC sections.

I agree, but I think you need to specify the kind of semi-automatic shotgun. Tube fed ones should be fairly common and cheap. Mag fed Saigas or Veprs are more expensive and should be less common, less so if they are capable of selective fire.

Do you live in the US/have purchased firearms here? Although it is true some special snowflake guns have been banned over the years, mostly due to their depiction in media, semi-automatic shotguns are not any harder to get your hands on than a pump action.

If fact they are extremely common to see in gun shops and I think there's a even manufacture that sells a model out of Walmarts.

I live in Michigan and they a very common sight, even in the hands of adolescents, during bird hunting season.

Don't even think California has a restriction on them, just capacity.

Um, what? The semi-auto shotgun I own is in fact a SPAS-12, and I definitely legally own it. You can select between pump and semi-auto firing modes so I have no idea why it'd be illegal. It's not capable of full-auto firing without extensively modifying the firing mechanism, so it's not banned under the Reagan shitty gun bans.

Freedom got into a war with Duty, and this spurred an arms race between them. They get the weapons either for free, or for a discount because they use them to war with Duty and the Military, who's job is to keep the Zone closed.

Basically, NATO generals dumped a bunch of guns on a black market supplier to flood Freedom with weapons and use them as a can opener against the military Cordon.

Honestly I'm not sure of the manufacturing date or even when the weapon was designed, but I bought it a year ago. Pretty sure I own it legally since I bought it from a local gun shop at a gun show.
