As someone who played in a top vanilla guild and quit @ TBC, this is just not true. I was considered the highest DPS Warlock on my server and my gear was shit, my talent spec was shit, my ability to farm was far worse than I can do now, I never used consumables, etc.

its a complete joke - if keeping tanks alive is the problem you can even run with MORE healers than vanilla setups (which usually had 15 or so, whereas pservers cut it to roughly 10 since they actually have good output unlike people in vanilla) - DPS kill the boss faster, healers are twice as effective, and tanks do more threat and have better mitigation and more HP (AQ gear + proper consums is harder to kill than naxx gear, especially with good healers. if you're struggling on a boss you bet your ass your guild will go pick up worldbuffs once the mechanics are down after a few wipes)

herp derp we did MC in greens and still BWL many in greens (because lack of players). only tanks and some autists had resistance gear. still shit guilds couldn't do them, which made blizzard nerf every boss after few weeks. at nefarion our tank had like 5K hp with flask, when I look at these priva servers videos, they have fucking 10K. there was no spell power at start, my only sp item was basically trinket, and it didn't matter because I've would still pull aggro. So I doubt rest of the raids were any different.
