Yeah story behind that amazing number of mileage is the 1 owner before me was some millionaire dude that never drove the car, before I purchased it it's been towed behind an RV and driven a few times for grocery runs. Really lucky find. It had 24,300 miles when I purchased it.

5l/100km and 6.5l/100km
But now with heating almost always on the l/100km sucks.

>But now with heating almost always on the l/100km sucks.

????
isn't the heating just re-routed engine heat?
having AC on in summer and getting bad MPG makes sense to me but not normal heating, or is it some kind of AC fuckery here, too?

Heat from the engine goes to you, so it heats up slower to reach that most fuel effiecient point of the run so the milage is bad until that point.

I may be wrong

Just poked a hole in my 1.9 TDI Golf's sump the other day, miss it already. MY05 though.

no, I think that's completely correct, but I was thinking about the time after the the engine got to optimal temperature.

so until that temp is reached, why not simply enduring the cold und then turn up the heat?
once the engine is on temp, it should perfectly cope with you enjoying some of the heat with the internal thermostat. I doubt using some of the heat on your face makes such a big impact once everything is warmed up all nicely and working correctly...

of course you shouldn't take away heat right from the start, especially when driving a diesel (that have a much harder time to heat up in winter anyways)

Problem is fog on the windshield. Needs to go away for safe driving. So yeah I get the point you are making, but I don't want to crash. Tried antifog, didn't work.

true...
how many kms is your average commuting?
if it's only just a couple kms that would also fuck really hard with your MPGs.

I used to think diesels are always efficient but then I learned they guzzle a metric fuckton more than petrols on short distance commuting. they apparently really need longer trips to come the fuck down on sipping all the juice.

Daily 10km to go to school and back.

Now on a full tank I get on average 100km less than in the summer. So in the summer i get around 850km on a full tank if I remember correctly.

Should I buy?

>Daily 10km to go to school and back.
>in a fukken diesel

yeah m8, seems like you really got the wrong car then.
that's already bicycle territory but good for you if you still average under 8l under these shit circumstances but yeah, kinda negates the reason to have a diesel.

I'm actually up to 253k now.

1994 Chevy C1500 Silverado

if you can afford the maintenance

Yeah, first I had it for work where I drove 50km daily. Now school came and it is chugging that diesel like a mad man.

well, wish you best of luck with your car and hey, that engine is one of the best so it might be still good for a couple ten of thousands of kms even with that short commuting but you better keep an eye on all things that need maintenance.
