Because Jagex is full of retards, nothing was wrong with the fog in the previous year, the only thing they had to do was remove Phials and the problem would've been solved

They also revealed where the final area was going to be before the event even began so RoT just sat there for the entire hour, people had more trouble trying to get in than actually fighting

I bet if players knew how deadly the fog would be from start they would've taken the chance to drive RoT out of the palace before the fog hit

probably, although making the final take place in the palace was fucking retarded in the first place
even without the barrier, any clan trying to rush would have lost a lot of numbers in the barrage pile at the door and RoT would almost definitely have still won
the bigger problem is that nobody at jagex appears to have brain functional enough to realize that having the final in the palace, even with the doors removed and the ladder disabled, would turn into a shitshow
