It's because hitscan weapons are far more precise with no blast radius. Meanwhile grenadier weapons have plenty of big ol hitboxes and explosions well suited to mopping up slows.

People shit on Volt a lot but I think it's pretty rewarding to use while going fast and spider-manning around. There's like 0 spread so you have to have really good aim to perform well with it.

Of course, it becomes an issue when people camp with it. I think it should have its effective range cut a lot shorter and it would be a balanced weapon.

The embark shit's not that bad, even with phase embark it's still not viable in combat. Bugged duration only affects consoles, although it's still pretty bad. Every bullet doing ten gorillion splash damage is game breaking. It's much more important that that bug gets fixed.

It won't affect the player you're trying to kill, but since splash damage also affects the player who fired it if you're close enough, you can instagib your own titan in close quarters.

Honestly though, it doesn't really matter what you do. Legion is unplayable when every pub Ion gets on your ass immediately.

For real though, if you're going fast then he shouldn't instakill you before you see him. Also consider electric smoke or emp nades.

Biggest problem I have with Legion is that I just get peppered with Charge Beams, MGL and Archers. I'm just too used to just blocking them with vortex shield and dashing away

Legion IS the tankiest titan, so you can take a bit of punishment. You don't want to be the titan everyone is looking at, because you have no mobility, so the way I like to play him is to sprint around and molest people from behind with the best sustainable DPS in the game.

They're just as potent, there's just more terrain to consider
But that also means you can get off some frags easier because they don't know you're cooking something up for them

Is a dash on him mandatory? I wanted to try playing him around his quick smartcore with battery but it didn't really pan out well

Dash is mandatory on Legion and Scorch in my opinion. You need dashes to use cover effectively, since you can't really strafe that well. Without Dash you will be completely outplayed by any Tone, Northstar, Ronin, or Ion.

scorch is all about positioning, you need a dash to either close the distance or retreat when you're out of position

I wish dash wasn't so key, but every time I don't use it on the ogres I feel crippled.

I tried it a couple times on Scorch while I ran an Anti-titan loadout and it worked reasonably well
I was actually surprised how much easy damage I got off while enemy titans took the bait

How does scoring in amped hardpoint work. I spent most of the game killing people around the enemy's only point while trying to capture it and was literally bottom of the scoreboard.
