When I was in the military (up until about a week ago), I walked about 25-30 minutes from room to desk but would have to get up with 30 minutes before hitting the door to don the uniform, shave, clean the room in case of inspection, so on. I'd also use an alarm that gave me 20 minutes of snoozing so that I'd have 15 minutes to snooze so I don't feel like shit and another 10 in case of having to take a shit. End result is an alarm that goes off at 0530. Time estimations are approximate, alarm time is exact.
