Fast lane vs Slow lane vs Goldilocks lane

Most of the time I drive in the goldilocks lane because I don't want to drive too fast or too slow. Apparently this can get you a fine in Britain, even though it is scientifically proven to be safer

Basically this. As a burger if you're not passing people then you need to be on the right. Middle is fine if it's a highway/road with a lot of people entering and exiting, though.

The only lanes that have legal justification are carpool lanes. Apart from that, besides some states outlawing passing on the right or cruising in the far left lane, there is no "fast" "slow" or whatever the fuck lanes.

Driving in Ontario, I find the middle lane to be the slow lane, while the right lane is the "medium speed" lane, with left being fast. Right is, alternatively, "I want to go so fast that even people in the left lane are too slow."

for relevant states with constant heavily trafficked four lane highways i would say this is accurate. for the irrelevant flyover states where heavy or moderate traffic only occurs twice a day people tend to keep right except to pass because there's plenty of room in both lanes and most people aren't in a rush.

Middle lane hogging is retarded and illegal for a reason.

The middle and right lanes are for overtaking only. Sitting in the middle lane prevents people who are using the road properly from switching lanes to overtake trucks etc. or to allow merging traffic to join. It also forces drivers to switch lanes twice to overtake and twice more to get back into the proper lane.

If you want to cruise at the speed limit, then just switch lanes when you need to pass someone instead of being a lazy cunt and ruining the road for everyone else just because you think you're a special snowflake and the highway code doesn't apply to you.

Now this might sound dumb, but on us interstates with 3 or more lanes, I stay dead center because my vehicle is so slow that it allows me to be passed on two sides. I originally stayed dead right in the slow lane, but the line behind me would get so long, but in the middle lane there are only ever 2 or 3 cars at most.

I don't get what is wrong about driving in the middle lane if you're going faster than the slow lane and slower than the fast lane. If faster lanes only exist to pass someone why would you ever need more than two lanes if you're supposed to be in the slow lane the entire time? if you're getting passed on both sides I get it, but I don't see what is wrong with a steady progression of speeds between the lanes.

I can't pass, top speed is below 100 kph. Me being in the center allows traffic to leave my lane in 2 lanes, not just 1.

I mostly use the middle lane because sometimes I get stuck behind a truck or there is merging traffic and people in the middle passing don't move to the left to give me space. Same happens with trucks and they just push people out of the middle lane anyway.

Most roads won't have me, too heavy. Interstate travel only. Minimum speeds on the interstate are 45 MPH, I top out at 50.

The speed LIMIT is 70mph, that means its the maximum speed you should achieve. Everyone should be going considerably slower than that and only speed up if absolutely necessary.
