What dont you do on your own car?
What dont you do on your own car?
Your mom, but only because I don't want to break the suspension.
I'm afraid of working with spring compressors, and vital engine components.
i dont do anything to my car, just pay the dealer for peace of mind
enjoy your placebo tax
when possible, for major stuff the bugger always breaks down at the local mechanic, last one was literally only a mile down the road vs driving like 50 miles back home.
i do basic stuff like oil changes, electronics and other stuff but like clockwork the damn thing limps and refuses.
every car ive had has done this hahaha
I do everything.
Such is the convenience of having a 4 car garage with every tool.
Repainting of panels after getting hit in traffic.
i have like 6 fucking car bays but i have to lie in dirt.
god bless tarps
Even upholstery?
Never liked doing it, but my door cards are rotting so I will have to soon enough
Everything but alignment. I can get it close, and do for auction candidates, but if I'm driving it for a long time I have a shop with the equipment do it. I'll buy an alignment lift one day.
no, fuck that.
chinaman will do it for cheap.
Is that a real doll?
Just tires.
Everything else, I will at least attempt to do on my own first.
Cuz I'm too itelligent
I don't think they make those that skinny and gross. Probably just a whore he pays to take pictures.
Its a real human bean

>Rebuild an automatic trans
>Major wiring issues
That's about the only things I won't do
Honest question why is everyone hate wiring? Never had to do it
Because it's relatively easy to accidentally the whole electrical system.
is that a tube of anti seize bound to her leg?
Because electrics is like black magic to most people
Those are her family's ashes
Enjoy your cancer
i dont do my own oil because the price difference is 5 bucks and the local shop gives top offs on all fluids between changes
I don't let starving women with fake breasts get underneath it.
Enjoy your estrogen

everything, I just don't give a fuck

First thing I've ever brought it in for I'd in having the shop put in the heater core because I can't be fucked. I might build the new engine myself then have the shop install it.
fucking fire dude
I don't do the porting work on motors already making 200 hp/l. At that point an expert is required. I don't do general engine machine work because it's a waste of time to try and deck heads or bore cylinders on a Bridgeport when a pro can use a specialist machine to do the job cheaply. The last time I had an automatic to rebuild i sent it to a shop, but I probably wouldn't now. Anything else is fair game besides the obvious dyno tuning.
Anything I need to lift the entire car for
because it's better inside the car
I don't want to do any transmission work ever. I'm intimidated by rings too but someday I'll do them.
Anything beyond basic maintenance and service.
I do not know enough about cars to fuck with delicate stuff without fucking it up.
I know just enough about cars to know that I have no idea what I'm fucking doing.
I know a trustworthy local mechanics garage, who do shit right.
I don't want to wast a weekend laying on my back surrounded by parts and manuals, trying to watch youtube videos on my laptop while the battery lasts, hoping I can finish it by monday.
>I have a shop with the equipment do it
All you need is jackstands and a laser device. I've seen someone do it on the vans where I work; just jack them up, prop the axles, align the wheels together with a laser and a bunch of sensors.
Clean it
My master cylinder crapped out on me a few months ago, I tried changing it myself but since it's located in a weird place under the dash, it was way too cramped for me to work on, and my tools couldn't reach a lot of the nuts and bolts needed to remove it, and my arms were so long that I couldn't maneuver them. Ended up taking that to a mechanic, who gave me a big discount and got it done in a day because I had already bought all the necessary parts, but other than that, I've done a break fluid flush, fuel line replacement, oil change, and other basic maintenance all on my own.
Not much, cause I don't have a place to work on it. I've done minor stuff that requires no/few tools and can be done without putting the car up on jackstands. hopefully soon I'll have a place to work on it so I can start doing more.
OP needs to get some ice on that sick burn
only thing I wont do on my car is upholstery. Fuck that noise I know how to do it since I took the classes in CC, but id rather pay the mexican man his money. Other than that I rebuilt my own tranny, wired my car, rebuilt my engine, and fab my own shit. My CC had a decking machine and boring machine so thats how I managed my own machining.
Gears, paint, and tire mounting/balancing are about the only things I won't/can't do.
Which car? Sounds like something I'd like to avoid.
If you think upholstery is hard, you've never done it, or your teachers sucked.
Used to be glass and upholstery, just learned how to do glass, it's not too bad. I've done some half ass door panels but for seats it's just not going to happen, that's pure witchcraft.
...
Exhaust and heater cores that require complete dash removal.
>engine machine work
>diff, tranny rebuild
>alignments
>body and paint
i can put it all together and make it work, its just not worth the risk to spend money on the stuff im not confident in rebuilding
machining doesn't count. no one can buy a $20,000 mill.
i don't change the oil or rotate tires, but i do everything else.
brakes, suspension, filters, wipers, engine work, etc. no problems getting dirty to save myself a couple hundred dollars.
but driving all the way out to my parent's house (i live in an apartment complex) to get my hands covered in oil and have to drive an hour to dispose it? no thanks

I live in an apartment and any kind of automobile work is prohibited, to keep the parking lot pavement clean. In fact I got a $200 fine for washing my car with a bucket because of the water I left on the pavement.-
