Now my turn. Bought her for $500 and used an $800 parts car to help rebuild her. Put in hours of body work to fix rust and performed my first head gasket replacement. The fenders were rusted out so I don't feel any regret over cutting them up and I think it really looks nice.
This next summer I want to do a whole bunch of aero work including a splitter and flat underbody as well as turboing the 4age with a megasquirt. Aiming for 165 on stock internals and 220 with a rebuilt engine with upgraded pistons and connecting rods.

Nah, I mean as you're launching. You're obviously careful with 1st because if you're even half way aggressive with it it spins but then once you're moving and actually have inertia on your side you feel like maybe you'll push it a little bit going into 2nd and actually break traction just a wee little bit plus rear-steer meme makes it seem more exciting than it really is. It's just very fox body to launch clean but then chirp 'em going into 2nd. I have an ancient 4 speed toploader though so your T5 is probably much smoother to drive. I should really get into the habit of downshifting into 2nd just for safety in corners even if it does make the engine too loud.

kek, i fucking hated working on mine so i did as little work as possible on it which still meant i was under the hood once a month because of some bullshit sensor or vc gasket leak. glad i got rid of mine but i do miss it occasionally.

I heavily miss driving mine, even though I was too lazy to put fluid back in the master cylinder so it shifted like shit.
At least it's super cheap to work on.

>Insurance is extortionate, but then again it is in any car in the UK of you're a bloke under 25

All in all, I've loved my time with it but the time has come for an upgrade. My advice would be to anyone who wants an Alfa would be to get the highest spec one they can, the base models won't be any cheaper to run. I was looking at a Brera as a replacement but I'd want the 3.2 V6 not the 2.2JTS.

Do it though, you won't regret it.

Here you'll find them priced quite a bit above its competitor trucks of similar ages, conditions and mileages. Comparing with my 2003 Hilux, a 2005-ish Mitsubishi L200 with aircondition, automatic transmission, 20% fewer miles and maybe better body condition will easily be 70% of the price of a Hilux, while a Nissan Navara of the same age, equipment (no automatic) and wear will perhaps only be like 60% of the Hilux price.

The Hilux is a lot better built, has better "muh heritage", bigger aftermarket and so on. They keep their value insanely well if you don't beat it to shit.

I live in one of the safest parts of the country, the Alfa 147 for me is actually more to insure than a GT or Brera.

Dont get me wrong, the Alfa is not unreliable. It has never failed to start or broken down. Its just that parts are pricey when they do go wrong and the electrics are just niggles , I can live without a radio.

Bought from a guy for $1k. Got one hell of a deal on it. Very clean, only 115k miles. Needs some rims. I don't even mind that it's yellow.

My air filter wouldn't clear the stock hood and it's only going to get taller since I'd like to move to a more moder intake manifold and possibly dual quads since the car came with two identical Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetors (and a Holley I could leave on the current manifold). Your car is cool too definitely more subtle like a nice balance between a Civic and an Accord. I've never seen one of those in my life are you in the USA?

Anyway, white FD guy here, thanks for the nice words - those of you who commented on the rims, how would you feel about some gold 5-spokes on it? I know this is done pretty commonly, but I think they always come out decent, plus the RE-Amemiya FD is my waifu and I'd like to emulate it a bit.

This is kind of where I'd like to head with mine when's all said and done (just white/gold instead of bee movie colors), I like the old Mazdaspeed aero stuff.

But more reliability mods gotta' be done before I focus on the exterior. Pretty much just sitting on some gauges and downpipe presently, nothing else has been done.
