Day 214
Warhammer is still shit.

got the king and the warlord ill try it out after my vc run. what did it add actually? a new orc army? never played them. are those new units only in the new goblin army or are they also in orcs normal?

should i just go all out and buy the grim and the grave? so I get the other VC units.

I like gg but I love my karin and juri
having loads of fun cant wait to get drunk off of mulled wine on Christmas and play sfv.
warhammer is not really the type of game to play drunk.

>just bought Atilla
>White Hun playthrough because I'll scumbag my way through for the first time
>four hours deep, ravaging the countryside
>six star assassin walks up to my group
>send two of my own after him, lives through both attempts
>bullshit.avi
>next turn, he assassinates a general
>send three more assassins after him, he lives through five total attempts
>alt-f4
Fuck this game. Total War is cursed for me. I'm gonna play this a year later and win easily. Like Napoleon, Empire, and Shogun.

>turn X
>the omens are bad! public order -2!
>turn X+1
>The brayherds are invading! public order -3!
>turn X+2
>The nobles are pissed off or some shit! -2 public order or -10 leadership!
fuck's sake...

> Tomb Kings still not announced

added skarsnik as a greenskin, goblin only army and a dwarf faction, both of which have a unique objective.
Added some squigs (OP) for greenskins and rangers and bolt thrower (ok) for dwarfs.
Also added special regiments of renown (mercenaries) for both

both of those new factions are some of the best campaigns in the game but be warned that they're really tough at the beginning.

Are we going to get a Chaos faction entirely devoted to Khorne?

I'd play the fuck out of it. Bloodthirsters, Bloodletters, Khornates and all.

Not sure about this one lads, worried my army's about to get smashed.

So are there brand new goblins in that army? or is there a lot of different squigs and thats all thats new for them. well it will all be new to me because I'm only on my second game snice I bought It. played empire (need to replay this with the new content) and on my VC run.

If i get some funds from my family maybe ill buy the rest of the dlc, there really no other games I can see and I bought SFV and got that out of the way.
I guess ill have to see what the switch is like in march.
And no im not some kid im just a poor neet.

just gotta wait 1.5 years user...

it adds new squig and a couple goblin units for all greenskin factions plus regiment of renown (mercenary) units for the same. king&warlord is considered maybe the best dlc because of the new campaigns so you made a good choice user.

I've got it.

Warhammer is Shogun 1: Total War 2.
It's straight up Shogun 1 but a lot better. But with 3D maps

>bought sfv
guys seriously quit falling for this meme

>Nazi Samurai frat party

Neat

this meme will not catch on because any good meme has a sliver of truth to it

I'm about to go straight for Karak Eight Peaks in my Ironhammer playthrough. This can only end in complete failure or success.

TRUE KING
OF
EIGHT PEAKS

Its a fun fucking game, its not the thread to argue over it.

Proof of skeletons.
You can see right through his leg.
I thought it was a fair comparison. The lack of historical formation fuckery. It's all about grinding the enemy up.

good luck my friend. I made it with only 1 turn before bankruptcy last time I tried...had to sell half of my remaining buildings to do it.

What these regiment of renown guys about, you need grim dlc to use them?

It's not a fair comparison because Shogun had 3 formations and 3 forms of engagement you could switch between at any time and at least a dozen different formations you could pick for your army that the AI would also use.

>tfw the only thing that can bring you back to older TW games these days is TV shows, Movies, or Books about a specific time period that rekindle your interest.

Welp, time to play Atilla - Age of Charlemagne as the Danes, again.

>It's a fun fucking game
lol ok capcoon keep telling yourself that

also shogun 1 is probably the most authentic feeling TW game down to the campaign map that's made out of rice paper and god tier sound design

grim&grave gives RoR for empire and vampire counts
king&warlord gives RoR for greenskins and dwarfs

They're mercenary units that you can recruit instantly and they all have some special ability but are more expensive. Very useful for buffing up your army if you need to on short notice.

How can one be so pleb?

Is there a limit to how long you can make unit names in the localization files?

My mod crashes the game on startup, and all it is is a copy of local_en.pack with a few lines changed.

I can't play anything older than Shogun 2 anymore, the UI/gameplay is just too atrocious.

Everything newer than S2 has atrocious campaign map and combat. WRE troops get caked in more shit as you upgrade them instead of looking like professional troops. Don't even get me started on the UI of Rome 2.

>Gobbo archers

Can I confederate Vassals?
I might be able to vassalize Stirland.

Climb on back, and we'll be off

serious question : any good warhammer porn out there, asking for a friend.

BY SIGMAR, NO!

>any good warhammer
No

EAL51-QI3Z8-EMDYQ

Can't recall if I gave this one out yet, so hope it works for the lucky neet that grabs it!

bound to be some slaanesh shit out there somewhere

>sexualizing Warhammer

You clearly don't understand what Warhammer, Fantasy or 40K, is about.

ogres should have ogre maneaters a trade resource to incentivize mercenary playstyle.

Oh its a 20% off for TWW, not a Grombrindal. Shoulda clarified that.

>not being sexually attracted to witch elves.

pathetic

something something dominated by best elf

the sea between should be much larger

also,
>no ogre kingdoms

no

Rejoice! For a Knight of Bretonnia provides your shield.

>French-styled knights riding on coated pegasi with lances

Why did real life have to be so fucking boring?

There is an Age of Vikings mod for Attila.

Because we got the world that had laws of physics.

>I AM THE SUPREME PATRIARCH

>we're living in the wrong physical universe

Nuclear meme magic to contaminate the world and bend the laws of space and time when?

Do you like swords?

What did he mean by this?

We don't have enough men to cause that to happen. Even /tv/ can only cause a plane to crash every so often. We'll have to make due with our imaginations, video games, and dreams.

/pol/'s meme magic just got a president elected. We need them to fix the first mistake of this world - the lack of fucking awesome magical things.

A president and a Republican majority in the House and Senate. Probably not enough to get us pegasi so that we can all be Bretonnian knights.

>/pol/'s meme magic

please stop, as much as I loved donald becoming president the whole meme magic thing is reddit cancer

It's over, anakin

I thought sieges were supposed to be better???

What's cancer?
An unnatural growth.
What are wings on a horse?
An unnatural growth.

Hardly CA's fault you use mods to cripple the defenders

Well that was fucking misleading

If anything, the mod I used is to make sieges even harder. If I went for normal Warhammer sieges, I wouldn't have lost a single unit.

What bullshit, towers can destroy a unit without any trouble in un-modded Warhammer before they even reach the walls.

>Historically, the cataphract was a very heavily armored horseman, with both the rider and steed draped from head to toe in scale armor, while typically wielding a kontos or lance as their weapon
DO THESE LOOK LIKE FUCKING CATAPHRACTS TO YOU CA
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

That map. Hmm...

And towers only work so long as a unit is nearby to activate them, meaning that in regular Warhammer, with it's tiny-ass garrisons, the only towers activate will be the ones near whatever gate the AI decides to park the majority of its tiny fucking garrison at, so you can avoid any trouble by sending your Lord in, your flyers, and moving your other units out of the way of the tower range. With increased garrisons, the AI is more likely to activate all of the towers. But the sieges are still too easy.

Cataphract that came from poor areas typically had worse armor than Persians. They're still heavy lances.

>Sponsor Belegar to mount his expedition from your hold.
>He auctions off all of your shit and leaves.

How the fuck do I into religion in Attila? I just can't get my religion over 60% because of dumb fucking German paganism spreading from nowhere in the middle of Spain, I should have just swapped to Latin Christianity

they shouldnt be called cataphracts, just lancers
i pay 600 upkeep each on both of these units, so you'd think they could afford the best armor

uncolonized land giving osmosis? germanic pagans settled on your border?
just build shrines and shit and it's hard not to get 70-80%

A Cataphract is just a heavy lancer.
There's nothing special about them. If we really want to be historically correct when referring to force organization, we should probably just refer to them as heavy lancers.
If we want to go one step further, we could probably denote if they were levied, professional, or noble drafted.
Soldiers ain't special, mang.

A cataphract is a cavalry unit where both man and horse are fully covered in armor, like Italian War knights, no armor on their horses mean they're just heavy lancers and don't deserve their name.

Is a Knight a Cataphract?
Is a Gendarme a Cataphract?
No. They're just cultural names for the heaviest lance wielding cavalry. Usually raised from privileged families.

I thought a cataphract was when your eye gets all blurry and you lose vision

Cataphracts have the ability to damage your eyesight in more ways than one.

I can't believe it took humans so long to have the government provide weapons.
I mean, they wanted to win the fucking wars right?
The peasants aren't going to buy weapons. They're going to buy whores.

t. Socialist scum.

>cannot expand in great speed because public order
>t-thanks Tw:Attila, I'll play white huns next times

this sword better be worth it

also are chariots shit?

Warhorse breeder's stables worth it in Warhammer?

>only 20 kills with the cannons

do you even direct control?

they had to go on their cannons of course

they were making swiss cheese out of my chosen

just realised you had zero cav

lmao

Rome called.

it's not just a heavy lancer. scale armor on the horse and rider, and uses a lance

Daily reminder that Ancient Empires never

Total War: Dominions when?

We are close

>ancient empires release date announced 3 years ago

If you have spare governors and lots of priests, you can colonize up to 5 provinces at a go. For example, you can bumrush Palaestina, Syria, most of Arabia Magna, Osroene and Asoristan and still not have many public order problems. If anything, the limits on your expansion would be corruption making you bankrupt and the enemy faction harassing your borders.

Close is relative. Close to what? a week? a month? a decade?

The heaviest available armor in the period and the place. With a lance. It's just a heavy lancer.

specifically with armor on the horse, not just the rider

what do you call a cataphract with a lance?

a cataphract
