Been thinking of getting an RF Mx-5

What are Veeky Forums's thoughts on the RF mx-5?

Pigfat

Get a civic for 3k

still don't get why they don't push that 2L engine more 160 hp isn't much

Over priced pig shit

Why does this look like a pic from 2001?

Miller Cycle

>weighs the same as a soft top NB

ok

It's a great car, if you want something for canyon carving it's perfect, don't expect it to be fast on straights

Even my NA6 was honestly just fine for around town and even for passing on the twisties, much better than a civic or corolla of the same vintage

Really good looking car IMO.

If you are looking for a more refined MX-5, it's a good choice.

It's also the best looking one.

Time Traveling hipster.

Would buy the shit out of this car if it weren't so impractical or I had an extra garage spot or something.

Eared the gearbox was a shit

155hp

and it's ugly.

Economy cycle in a car marketed as a sports car, just go all out and fit a diesel.

cool car

get it

Thinks to greenies, every manufacturer has to hit retarded MPG targets, so it's either economy cycles or tarbos. Mazda was more interested in throttle response and linear power delivery, while Fiat decided that lag and weight was an acceptable tradeoff for dem torques.

What's the point?

>2 seater
It's one thing to have a 2-door with cramped (but functional) backseats, it's another to forgo that space entirely.

might as well get a bike.

It's too expensive for what it is. Minus the modern interior/exterior, it's just a slightly more refined NA/NB. There really isn't anything to write home about considering the price (starts around $30k).

Miata cucks will come and say >hurr durr it's the fastest mx-5 mazda has ever made

Cool story bro. Too bad it doesn't mean shit. Once you get up to that kind of price range, you need to start having some actual performance numbers. Save your money, get a Z4 or boxster or something that actually has some horses.

>buying the heaviest miata possible

>save your money and buy a car that costs $20k more
You're an idiot if you think those are remotely similar pricepoints.

>Save your money, get a Z4 or boxster or something that actually has some horses.
For 20k you could put a 500+ hp v8 in the RF.

Jalopnik meme

that is ugly as fuck

>Save your money, get a Z4 or boxster or something that actually has some horses
Or buy a ZF and spend a couple K on a supercharger and tuning and end up with a better car for less

It's a very attractive and comfy convertible sporty car. Improving the comfort and adding basic luxury features allows Mazda to sell the MX5 in large numbers year after year. If you want something more "serious" then get a used NB and modify it to your liking.

Hardtop convertible = way more civilized if you do a lot of highway driving. And it looks cool IMO.
