Why don't you drive a diesel?

Why don't you drive a diesel?

>fantastic mpg
>actual usable torque
>less poluting(very low co2)
>Actually has torque
>unique compared to gasoline
>don't have to rev the piss out of it to accelerate
>did i mention torque?

sounds like shit

Because I have a turbo charged engine with nearly 300 ft/lbs of torque.

2015 Jetta Sport 1.8t with APR tune, ~240 HP / 300 ft/lbs off the top of my head.

>sounds like shit
>slow

>not having your vehicle express your excitement everywhere you go

>buying a vw diesel

What are you even doing?

>Actually has torque

So what, my '98 explorer has something like 320 ft/lbs torque but that doesnt make it fast.

You need to have a decent HP number with that torque and something like 150 HP isnt going to cut it.

>>less poluting(very low co2)
And much more NOx, and carcinogenic particles...

Also,
>VW

>heavier engine design
>more complicated design
>needs to be run completely warm to prevent smogging and carbon buildup
>Nox
>takes a lot longer to reach optimal temperature
>doesn't take to the cold as well as petrol
>absolutely gutless without a turbo
>tax benefits in Europe are starting to decrease
>cities in Europe are considering/have begun banning diesels on certain days to prevent bad air quality
>diesel fuel is more expensive than petrol in a lot of places

Plenty of reasons why one would not want to own a diesel

And in some countries:
>higher taxes than equivalent petrol cars

a lot of these issues can be avoided by simply not living in cucked areas/countries

This. It's your own fault if you live in a place that hates fun, you voted them in yourself.

Diesel is really bad for the environment

Ever since the VW diesel thing, diesels just dont make sense. I mean Christ, they had to cheat the EPA regs to make a decent diesel that "conformed" to regulations.

If you take the "fix" youll make less power and get less MPG's that put it in MPG range of recent turbo gassers like VW's own 1.4t and 1.8t.

Then you're paying more for fuel and even if you were getting a few MPG more still, that'll be offset by diesel costing more.

Just doesn't make since to have small diesels anymore with how far small turbo gasoline engines have come.

Replacing injectors on a duramax are as much as a 6.0 ls.

Because while diesel engines are cheaper here in terms of fuel but the tax on Diesel engines are insane so petrol is the way to go if you do't drive around 23/7 in Europe.

Doesnt make them any less relevant

Bc Jews and Tayota fucked everything up

>Have diesel engine
>It likes to blow cylinder heads every 100,000 miles
>$500 a pop
>Injection pump goes at 150,000
>Another $500

>Have gas engine
>It wears out at 250,000 miles
>Rebuild it in a weekend
>Rebuild was $500 in parts

>Gasser has 132 CCs less displacement
>Gasser makes 30 more horsepower
>Gasser makes 10 more torques

B-but diesel is great guys. Muh torques!

Does your diesel not have a turbo on it?

IT'S NOT MANLY ENOUGH

I ONLY DRIVE CARS THAT EMIT BLACK SMOKE

>diesel
>fun

on the contrary it makes them incredibly irrelevant to anyone that doesnt live in a cucked country/area

Nope. NA VW 1.6. I can't imagine the poor head with a turbo.

The version that did have a turbo... still makes less torque than a Toyota 4A-FE
Not the performance 4A-GE. A 4A-FE.

this.

Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races

>Torque wins races

Yes, only when you have adequate horsepower as well. Not really going to work out when you are getting passed up at 70 MPH because youve got 150 HP and the other guy 300.

>NA 1.6 non-turbo diesel
Why don't you just join an S&M club instead?
>You'll be spending your time getting another kind of head out in town

But seeing as all new diesels are forced induction, I think your is kind of a niche argument. If you look at stuff like BMW's N57 in the 535D vs. the N55 in the 535i, they're pegged for horsepower, but the diesel has the torque advantage and can go A LOT further on a tank.
I think diesel engines have their uses, although less than 2.0 litre applications might not be it anymore.

...

>diesel

>Why don't you just join an S&M club instead?
lol this thing gives me enough pain.

>But seeing as all new diesels are forced induction, I think your is kind of a niche argument.
Fair enough.
The biggest thing that puts me off about car diesels here in burgerstan is parts cost. Sure, it gets 48MPG but any and all fuel savings over gas is going to be eaten up when the head goes.
In Europe where they're really fucking common, I can see it being more economical to have a diesel.

>Torque wins races
not really

it's emissions and mileage are environmental as fuck

Mfw I really want chevy to put a diesel in the impala and I am seriously considering looking at a premier cruze diesel hatch when they come out.

I drive 120 miles per day round trip so a diesel would be totally sensible for me

>Why don't you drive a diesel?
I do
>fantastic mpg
I know right
>actual usable torque
Peak Torque under 2000rpm. yes please
>less poluting(very low co2)
Yeah, but NOx and Particulates
>Actually has torque
More a function of engine displacement than fuel type
>unique compared to gasoline
Don't make this a meme fuel thing
>don't have to rev the piss out of it to accelerate
Couldn't even if I wanted to
>did i mention torque?
Yes

>more complicated design
This proves you know nothing about engines

Ayy Jettabro, 07 GLI with around the same in HP but about ~250 tq.

this.

carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. NOx and particulates are.
