Elwynn, Tirisfall and Durotar are going to be fucking warzones, no doubt about it
Teldrassil won't be as bad because it'll pretty much only be night elves, but it'll still be a clusterfuck and it's slow leveling there to begin with. Same with Mulgore.
Dun Morogh is going to suck but mob density is really high everywhere though so you could probably at least grind on something

Afaik totems aggro everything, even neutral mobs. Searing totem even kills critters. Pet aggro range is bugged so where normal players run under/over mobs, pets will aggro.

Because the Alliance had been able to establish cities and colonies for thousands of years before WoW started. Ironforge was build about 2550 years, and Gnomeregan about 200 years, before WoW begins. Orcs didn't start building settlements until about four years before WoW started, the tauren used elevation to their advantage because defenses were meaningless against centaur and quillboar, and the Darkspear had no natural resources to use on the Isles to build major civilizations like other troll societies could.
I haven't played on the old servers, how bad is the scripting compared to Kronos now
