It can't "predict" anything, that's currently physically impossible. It saw big hunk of metal blocking it's way and applied the brakes. Humans used to be able to do that, I guess not anymore.

It was able to see that the car in front of it was going to crash by "seeing" the speeds of both vehicles.
It didn't do anything with this information that a human couldn't do though.
