old school is a literal backup from 2007, so the game is simpler
rs3 is more advanced in terms of mechanics, gameplay and graphics.

I feel like none of the jmods actually play runescape.
I feel like the only ones that play runescape as the ones working on osrs.

old one has the old combat which is click n forget. it's popular because a lot of streamers advertise it and it has a third party client that's very good

new one has a different combat system. you queue up basic abilities that generate adrenaline and you use stronger abilities that need adrenaline

desu, there is no real reason to play oldschool runescape unless you REALLY hate the new combat system. RS3 has a lot more content including for early/mid game players

its proven that a few of the rs3 jmods actually do play runescape on non jmod accounts, (I think shauny being the most obvious) but Im not sure if every rs3 jmod does

If I worked with a game I wouldn't be the most excited person to play it.
He being maxed is already better than I expected.

But compare it to the osrs team which is only like 6 or 8 people. They only put out updates that people want, they don't put out super high tier end game quests that are 90% running around a maze. It actually feels like they play the game on their own and balance the game around that. Nothing in RS3 feels like that anymore.

They only put updated that the people want because 100% of them are polled and will not pass if people don't want them.

shauny isnt even a dev, he's basically community relations, its decent that he plays the game himself so he can atleast get his opinion out in jagex hq

and rs3 has a Legacy option to make your combat like the old game, though it's ineffective compared to EoC and some newer bosses are straight up impossible in that system.

then again people got drygores in Darkscape somehow so I guess it's not as impossible as I thought.

hence all the bootleg versions of RS3 content that gets put into osrs like Nightmare Zone being a copy of Dom Tower and the planned Fight Caves 2 that just so happens to give 3 capes as a reward?

the only worthwhile osrs updates does qol updates like instant fairy rings that don't make you go to Zanaris first, their new content are abominations like Monkey Madness 2 and Zeah, even the boss monsters like Zulrah feel like copies of RS3's combat-wise.

I guess I'm just spoiled by Prif but the arc is just so tiny and unmemorable, that closed off city of corpses tells me they have more shit planned in the future.

damage boost > armour

Armor does not reduce damage taken. That is what your Defense level does.
Armour reduces the rate in which you get hit.
It is way more favorable to have a better damage output than to diminish enemy accuracy.
