Unofficially best car in the world is Mercedes S class coupe.

But I kinda like how BMW does things more than Mercedes. It's more enthusiast friendly, more emphasis on engineering and driving dynamics, less on quality and overengineering. But I haven't owned a Mercedes-Benz yet so I perhaps don't understand what they are all about.

I don't know if they're the "best" but my MB's are 9 and 10 years old and have been relatively low-maintenance. Good quality, nice features.

As are the water pump, high pressure fuel pump, thermostat, coils and injectors. But stay on top of those things and the car might make it from la to new york (invest in a spare tire kit)
