Ok I bought SFV because everyone seems to think it's superior to MKX so I wanted to try it out.

Is the controller I'm using appropriate? Pic related? It seems like SFV has a more sweeping style of attacking that might be better suited for a joystick. What do you guys use as a controller? (I'm on PC so there is a lot of flexibility).

I've been playing MKX for like 6 months. I'm new to fighting games generally but I didn't want to play like a casual. I've got a pretty decent Thunder God Raiden game.

I always have liked the modern MK games. (The classic ones felt kinda clumsy to me). So I got into MKX which I really like.

I'm just checking out SFV because it seems to be most popular fighting game out now and it certainly seems like the most popular thing on Veeky Forums.

It's way more setplay based.

Ha I feel the same. I disliked the visual style of the old ones a lot.
And really just use what you used for mkx. It won't matter what you use at your level and the highest skill ceiling input device is actually a hitbox or a keyboard.
Also I am not sure sfv ever fixed the lack of dinput support and the horrible keyboard binding.
