Anyone Living in a Van? Thinking about living in a Van? Yearning for a nomadic lifestyle? Lets talk vans n vanliving

...

Just bought this 15 Passenger ram 3500 with no seats in it. What should I do with the interior?

clean it

Get your life sorted out you destitute gypsy

Replace that sagging headliner material.

>what I elected

>what I got

Where do you keep your cars?
>checkmate

So I've been living in a van almost a month. If they didn't want me to piss in alleys they shouldn't make them have so many dark, secluded pissing nooks. Hardest thing is finding a public wifi spot that doesn't have a 4chinz b&.

I added a sub zero down sleeping bag to my bedding. It was about 13F last night and I was snug as a bug in a rug. Winter can eat my cock, I'm /comfy/. We're projected to get half a foot of snow and temps in the single digits and below.

I'm pretty happy with my decisions. Fuck rent. I'll never pay rent again. I could start making six digits and I would still choose the van.

Does you van have a garage?

Then why the fuck would I want to live in one.

>Makes 6 figures
>Lets his money sit in the bank instead of investing it in property
Millennials everyone

>property
>an investment

Also I don't make six figs yet. I make around...12k a year? But I might get a 35k job soon. Idk, I don't worry about it. My expenses are like 8k a year if that. Technically I could make six figs but I don't want a whole career and shit and office slavery to get to that point.

Walmart parking lots

Can't wait to get my element and start doing this. Just waiting for a good one I can afford to pop up.

My brother does the van life, he lives in Manhattan and doesn't want to pay the inflated rent prices despite making 6 figures. It also helps that he works at a hospital, and can use the on-call doctor's rest room and work wifi for most life things. It did turn into a horrible mess very quickly though, pizza boxes just piled up, and the van never really runs well.

What a loser.

>Van Dwelling General
is this some new dutch cleaning product?

Check behind the interior panels for wads of cash.

how does maintenance look on vans that sometimes sit unmoved for 2 months?

You wouldn't live in a Van up north.
Winter just started.

I'm looking at buses to convert.

> more room
> better bang for the buck

Only bad part is that it's tricky to find areas to park

The main objective of van dwelling is to keep moving to avoid detection.

school bus??

what do you do if you need to have a nasty shit?

so how do you make money that way?

You don't. That's why you live in a shifty van that looks like some pedo's car for the weekend.

Does he actually live in that van? Because I don't see a single kitchen or bathroom installation. But hey, at least you've got a rack for your decorative guitars and a huge desk to line up your hipster camera objectives on.

>Lurking for ideas

the main problem with van living, and trailer/camper living in general is how cold it gets in the winter. if you live in cali or florida or something i guess its not that bad. anywhere else you are freezing your asses off.

insulate the fuck out of it.

look again moron

true. a lot of vandwellers migrate south for the winter

That's the thing, between gas and vehicle repairs you're not really saving any money compared to renting a tiny apartment in a cheap part of the country. It's more for the freedom lifestyle.

That's why professional van dwellers stay in the south or southwest during the winter and head north for summer.

Anyone here ever camp out at Slab City in south central California?

Check behind every panel for weed and pills.

God that's the comfiest thing I've ever seen

>"investing" in "property" when inflation is unavoidable and will soon hit
ok

>all that wood adding weight
>all these decorative lights draining the battery(ies)
>all the space took by guitars and camera related gear
>things put on the table in the first place
That thing probably doesn't go anywhere, at least not often.
Also, don't leave your guitar like this in a van. Vans have at best poor isolation, that plus the humidity (about which you really can't do anything) will make it age much faster than it normally would. get a hard case, my dudes.

Hey are you located in Florida? Like Palm city area, I think I've seen you're bus parked.

Nat Geo documentary when

Check your address bar, you're in /vdg/. Living in a van by the river working a job a highschooler could do is the dream and goal my man.

>pizza boxes

I would never eat in my van. That's unhygienic. There's a difference between being a dirtbag and being a literal dirtbag.

I thought about dwelling in some big city like SF or NYC. I'm in a mid size city right now. Seems like all the benefit and none of the fucking rent.

If there's snow on my van it's just free insulation.

What do you need all that room for? I have a minivan and it's half empty. If you're getting a bus get a motorcycle to park in the back. Shit would be sweet.

Find a grocery store or coffee shop with a staff you hate.

>Because I don't see a single kitchen or bathroom installation.

Overrated. I eat all my meals out and piss wherever. Why would you want to piss and shit and spill cooking oil and spices all over your van? It's a van, not an apartment. I don't get why people try to make it an apartment. You go camping, you don't install a sink in the tent.

The world is my toilet.

Well you already fucked up by not buying a flat panel van. It's gonna be hard for you to put anything substantial in there without covering up windows.

I tent camp in northeast winters. Get gud.

Tomorrow night will be -1F. I have no insulation or heater. Just nuts and a down bag. If you have the right gear you can be /comfy/. There are some dwellers that do this in Alaska.

You snowbird fucks are a bunch of weak-legged southern cucks. Every year you let nature dictate where you go, when you could just man up and live where you please and make the weather your bottom bitch.

No, in hindsight, all you should fuck off to commiefornia. Off, off. We get an inch of snow and you fucks start crashing and causing pile-ups. Learn to drive, you southern shits. Go back to your socialist shithole.

>lens cap off
>body cap off

into the fucking bin

...

Would be goals if I had the money.

When I used to live in my car, I'd just piss in a gatorade bottle and dump it out the window when no one looks. Hard to take a sneaky shit though...

I think the best plan for living out of a vehicle is to get a gym membership. That way you can take advantage of their locker room for all your hygiene needs.

Always wanted to do this but never had a reason or balls too.

100% going to build a tinyhouse within 10 years though.

No shit. Everyone already has one if they have half an ounce of sense. I hate this new trend of these boutique little indie gyms. I want a big chain with multiple locations so I can shower wherever. All the PF/24/AF don't have locations within the city limits here, just out in the burbs, because all these hipster gyms clog up the inner city. I had to go with a YMCA because it's the only one with a location downtown.

I work out half the time before I shower so I guess vandwelling is doing my body good.

>chimney in van
this might be the best idea in the world

>live in a van
>its a cold night so I turn on the heater
>die from carbon monoxide poisoning
top kek

It's probably stationary, though.

>Turn on the heater
>Turn on the blanket as well
>Cabin warms up
>Blanket warms up
>Glorious electric elements

>electric blanket
>probably even one of the cheap ones

>electric shorting
>get burned in your sleep

FUCK electric blankets.

Atleast fucking wood panel it, fuck.

My friend lived in his van for a year.

>Paid for gym membership to shower and shave
>Worked two jobs
>Slept in walmart parking lots
>had an extra alternator and battery installed for his computer
>paid for mobile internet stick.

He was only spending around 200 a month on living expenses.

>All that wood weight.

You have to think, a bus is designed for 48 kids, let say 150 pounds each.

Thats 7,200 lbs of just kids its designed to carry.

And a bus would have tons of room for generator and battery.

That OP pic is clearly not a bus though. Not wide of high enough.

Judging by the table and the insturments, its wide enough, and the bed ect, Its high enough to be a school bus

Gut it, remove the windows and weld in patch panels, rip off the shitty interior, insulate however you feel, and throw up whatever paneling you'd like. Plan ahead, run some wiring where needed for lights and outlets, etc. Bam, you got a shaggin' wagon.

>What do you need all that room for? I have a minivan and it's half empty.

Can you post (interior) pics? I'm looking to get into minivanning for the better mpg and ease of parking etc

wow you're so maculine and macho I'm really impressed

But I go camping in a tent, not in a van. Of course you can't put a sink in a tent. Nearly all camper vans and even conversion campers come with usable appliances though.

>cum stains everywhere.

If I could one day be half as /comfy/ as this photo I would forever be content.

>Vandwelling in general

Buy this:
To do this:
But get this:

Judging by the picture how wide do you think that sleeper is? 6ft?

...

Isnt this someone from /jp/ circa 2012? I forgot the story.

Considering that the cab is stolen straight from the regular full size trucks and regular full size trucks have been 80 inches wide for the last half century, I'd add around four inches on each side and end up at 88 inches or 7'4.

It's not a bus retard, that's a conversion van. Clean the stale cum out of your eyes.

Thank you user thats what I was thinking.

Kek

You can park your Smart Car if you get a school bus.

I guess you aren't familiar with how effective subarctic sleeping bags are. People literally sleep in snow with these things.

It's not that bad - put on some some thick ass socks and thermals. You'll be fine.

>mfw this idiot is complaining about the cold and he doesn't even have to deal with wind

Root your phone and tether.

>Makes six figures
>cant get van to run well

making six figures he should be able to live in a fucking refurbished bus and keep it running like a top

what kind of vehicular retard are you related to

if he's making 6 figures in a hospital in new york, i bet you he barely sleeps in the thing let alone has time to fix it.

this is how roughnecks out in the oil fields rake in so much dough. they live in shithole trailers and just work stupid overtime.

>this is how roughnecks out in the oil fields rake in so much dough. they live in shithole trailers and just work stupid overtime.

And its also why they're all drunks with huge trucks, drinking and buying trucks is literally all there is to do out there

my point is that at six figures he has the money to get it professionally fixed while at work

slab city is a cool place if you dont fuck with people or say anything that may anger the hippies
heaven help you if you piss one off

I've been thinking about van dwelling for a long time, watched the youtubers, saw the documentaries, my problem is that i dont want to have to shit innawoods all the time, nor do i want to shower innawoods or in a gym because i'm a hermit piece of shit
I was thinking of getting a travel trailer instead, seems like it would end of costing a lot more to do things that way though
Another idea is following Nomadic Fanatics lead and getting a small RV similar to his tioga

Travel trailers are not stealthy at all, and built like utter shit. Doing a diy conversion on a stepvan or finding a campervan with a wet bathroom but those are also not stealthy.

>tfw i thought my 23k/year job was poor
I only work half the year though

Just get a gym memebership that allows you to use all gyms in the country.

Fuck stealth.
I have a fucking hotel room that I am putting on the back of an old dually for running to tree climbing comps.

Errthang from shower and sink to a goddamn cieling fan and built in speakers.

My buddy realized that he fucked up when he tried to pull it on this little boat trailer. It nearly flipped.

He was like "ummmmm you want this thing?"

yeah I worry about the way they're generally built. But stealth isn't too much of a worry to me. If I DID get a van of some kind, it'd be a larger cargo van.

This is the way to do it.
