Lancer is probably his best class because he's still got his runes (if less potent) and he's got Gae Bolg and better physical stats for the brawl that he'll inevitably get into. He just looks like he sucks in that class because his performance in F/SN was based on him getting fucked by being unknown in Japan and getting fuckall for mana from Kirei and by having a command seal blocking him from actually killing any servants.

And at the end of the day, even if you've got the luck to beat Gae Bolg you're still going to get an unhealing hole through your lung or something similar from it.
