Philosophy has ruined my life. Not in the sense that I've developed a strange obsession and lost friends, but rather that the ideological wall I've hit has destroyed the way I look at the world and depressed me greatly.
Let me start by saying I don't know what the hell has happened to me philosophically. I once believed in rights and believed societies could be founded on rights alone that could not be infringed, but I now ask "Why?" and have trouble seeing rights as legitimate. I think in absolutes. Rights must be either existent and all-encompassing or non-existent, because anything in between is arbitrary. But are rights merely a subjective concept with no basis in reality? This leads me to my next problem.
I don't think any subjective construct (ex. government, language) can be defined in an objective manner nor do they exist in actuality. Are they valid? It seems they're merely human constructs to make the world we live in more tolerable.
Do rights exist? Do universal truths exist? Does the subjective nature through which we understand things invalidate our understanding?
Where the hell do I go from here? Do I remain a voluntaryist or become a fascist? Do I become Max Stirner and label everything a spook?
try with some wittgenstein, every day after meals for a couple months
Chase White
Become a fascist.
They pretty much believed everything was a subjective construct and still embraced said constructs.
Levi Murphy
"RIGHTS" ARE THE POLITICOLEGAL ASPECT OF ETHICAL VALUES; ETHICAL VALUES ARE THE EXOTERIC ASPECT OF MORALS.
"RIGHTS" DO NOT STAND BY THEMSELVES; "RIGHTS" ARE REAL AND GENUINE ONLY TO THE DEGREE IN WHICH THEY REFLECT AND ASSERT THE ETHICOMORALITY FROM WHICH THEY WERE CONCEIVED.
YOU ARE CONFOUNDED BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT SLOUGHED THE INSTILLED ERRONEOUS NOTION THAT "RIGHTS" ARE ABSOLUTE, AND ACTUAL IN THEMSELVES, BUT IT IS ALSO ERRONEOUS TO DISREGARD "RIGHTS" AS "NONEXISTENT" MERELY BECAUSE THEY ARE CONSTRUCTS; THE FACT THAT SOMETHING IS A CONSTRUCT DOES NOT NECESSARILY ENTAIL THAT IT IS NOT REAL; "RIGHTS" ARE UNREAL, NOT NOT REAL, NOR REAL.
Blake Allen
Rights dont exist, but they may as well because im going to shoot you if you infribge on mine
Matthew Scott
Why is Veeky Forums so obsessed with fascism when everyone here would be exterminated or put in a labor camp
Nicholas Taylor
AND TRANSVALUATION OF MORALS IS THE ONLY PROCESS THAT CAN ACTUALLY PRESERVE SOMETHING THAT IS AN ARTIFACT BUT STILL UNREAL, NOT NOT REAL, NOR REAL.
homo sum...
David Lee
Contrarianism.
If fascism was the norm, Veeky Forums would want a democracy.
Xavier Cruz
I believe it

Nathan Wilson
Anyone have the screencapture of an user talking about how Veeky Forums promoting religion, the nuclear family, borders and anti-drugs, and how this shows how fucked up society has become?
Cameron Mitchell
>I don't think any subjective construct (ex. government, language) can be defined in an objective manner nor do they exist in actuality. Are they valid? It seems they're merely human constructs to make the world we live in more tolerable.
You answered yourself. Those concepts are merely human creations but it is for that reason that we need them.It concerns the human condition instead of encompassing the universe with absolute truth
Chase Lee
>Do rights exist? Do universal truths exist? Does the subjective nature through which we understand things invalidate our understanding?
You can honestly do mental circles around yourself until the end of time asking these question. Everytime you find a new answer you'll find a way to defeat yourself.
Look at Nietzsche, he never found the answer and went crazy (course that was probably from syphillis)
The philosophical circle jerk is pointless
Charles Bell
>boo hoo
Stop obsessing and start doing.
Go make money, get armed, acquire land, and sire as many sons as possible.
the world is out there to conquer and enjoy faggot
they are on the loosing side of darwinism in the new coming world
not smart enough for the high skilled careers
not good looking or fit enough to be getting pussy and lliving in the moment to not give a shit about their shitty jobs and be happy with socialism
too insecure about "their" women being "taken" from them
hint, the world revolved around who you fuck and what you eat and the resources needed to do all that better than the next guy
everything else is a system devised to keep people from killing one another
Jayden Smith
It sounds like you're struggling with nihilism.
I would ask why you're so obsessed with "objective truths" when your subjective experience is all you will ever know. Why do morals existing only subjectively make them less valuable to you?
How could humans right possibly exist "objectively" anyway? Like, what does that even mean?
I would recommend reading some Nietzsche btw, his whole goal of his writing was to overcome nihilism.
Josiah Morris
I'm obsessed with objective truths because I want to know that which is legitimate and that which is not. If any government is just as legitimate or illegitimate as any other, why should one be asked to obey? If humans don't have rights does it make it okay to act in a manner contrary to how society expects and engage in currently criminal acts? The false meaning we accept bothers me.
Levi Gray
Too close to home.
Kayden Parker
religion helps prevent people from killing one another
it promotes family to lift us up from being animals
Tyler White
>good looking or fit enough to be getting pussy and lliving in the moment to not give a shit about their shitty jobs and be happy with socialism >this is described as a good thing

>all this babble promoting identity politics Fascism is about the community, not the individual.
Good try though.
Ayden Miller

This man did not want to kill anybody.
In fact he was the one who got killed and this was because he stayed true to his cause until his last breath.
Nolan Baker
I think they still believed there was enough room on the planet for everyone back then, and they didnt think globalism would happen so quickly
and when it did, we would be ready and have been prepared for years
they didnt think the extent of automization and communication , jobs would go or dissapear
fascism was industry
communism took roots in labor being replaced by machines we are out of the frying pan into the fire in 2016
Isaiah Young
>thinking about becoming faggotinist come on, that shit is built out of spooks.
Andrew Sanders
>what is Automation: Problem and Solution by Oswald Mosley At least do your research before making baseless arguments.
Nicholas Bennett
Yes all human concepts are subjective and imaginary. That's what's amazing about society, that it alters the physical world to fit the ideal world we dreamed of in our minds.
Read The Will to Power and get over it.
Gabriel Long
>I think they still believed there was enough room on the planet for everyone back then, and they didnt think globalism would happen so quickly Not only did Lawrence Dennis predict Globalism, he predicted a massive crash when capitalism ran out of places to physically expand to. And he thought this was coming so quickly preventative action was necessary to deal with it.
Aiden Hughes
> It seems they're merely human constructs to make the world we live in more tolerable.
no shit sherlock
Jayden Anderson
You needed philosophy for that? Every 16 year old thinks that.
Brandon Sullivan
I was depressed long before philosophy.
Asher Watson
Get used to it. The universe doesn't give a shit.
Wyatt Brooks
As much as I agree with these sentiments and how it reflects on modern society, I think it's actually likely that /pol/ might be saying the opposite if conservatism was mainstream.
Anthony Evans
tfw you already realized that the self is a false construct and this nigga still talking about political ideology
Adrian Hall
Easy. You become an anarchist.
Jaxson Howard
1) Fascist aesthetics (based on a mix of Nietzschean and futurist aesthetics, but with some things like "loyalty to the State(Italian)/Nation(NatSoc)" mixed in) appeal to them.
2) Secular religion (a loyalty to society almost religious in nature) gives it a sense of purpose
3) Because of its focus on society, it gives the individual a sense of belonging.
4) Corporatism is interesting, and potentially the most efficient economic system. It also attracts people who view laizzes faire as inefficient and socialism as even more inefficient.
5) Because its external politics is completely pragmatic, a fascist polity would seek the best possible outcome for itself, to the benefit of the individuals composing it, which may be considered superior to the ideology-driven external politics of socialism and democracy.
t. fascist that had the same dilemma as OP
However, most self-proclaimed fascists do not understand the fascist ideology even a little (much like most of its critics), and are just there for the contrarianism.
NatSoc should die and stay dead.
Jaxon Nguyen
Also, >exterminated or put in a labor camp Really, you should educate yourself on the fascist doctrine. Read "the Political Doctrine of Fascism" by Alfredo Rocco, it is great at showing the base concepts of fascism. It has its memes though.
I am, personally, only fascist because I view it as the most efficient way to run a society and increase the living standard of the state's citizens.
