Belfry Luna in Vanilla is the best designed area in the entire series.
A new DS2 player, upon reaching Majula, will soon find themselves heading out, be it to the Tower of Flame to fight Pursuer and Last Giant, or to Heide's Tower to tackle Dragonslayer, Dragonrider and Flexile Sentry.
Either way, they are led to the Lost Bastille. There, with some clever searching, they can find a key to upgrade their weapons to +6 thanks to McDuff. It proceeds as normal until they get to the first Great Soul. The Lost Sinner.
It is a huge difficulty spike, and the troublesome boss run and the darkness makes the boss problematic for some players. A few may get frustrated and quit, but by asking friends or the internet, they find out that there is a way to illuminate the boss and make that really hard boss a lot easier.
So they head to Belfry Luna.
The area is tiny but filled with loot that the player can appreciate, but what they truly seek lies beyond the area. As they struggle to get through, the players are accosted by bellbros and bellbros. The bonfire run is short, death is of little consequence, but the Bellbros are staunch defenders.
The tight, claustrophobic stairwells and chokepoints mean that there's very little camping, very little running and hiding. Unlike the forest, the PvP fucking happens lightning quick. Conflicts are nearly instant. The Player will often summon phantoms, providing covenant items for those who wish to brave the Blue Arena or medals for those who wish to unlock the secrets of Sunlight Spear.
Then the fights turn. It's two on 3, but the bellbros have the NPCs as meatshields. Every fight is a fast-paced blitz to annihilate the foe, since neither side can tarry long without fucking up.
The Bellbros have one more hidden weapon. The Chunks allow them to get stronger weapons, so while outmatched and limited in HP, they have more raw power.
Every dash is exhilarating and a great experience for all involved.
