BUT, the LS1 is VASTLY improved. it is not even comparable. The LS1 is endlessly better
if ALL you care about is sound, the LT1 does sound better. IMO (i have had both)
the LS1 has way better response, acceleration, more torque, more top end, better at higher RPM. sounds better past 5000 rpm. even gets better mpgs
not to mention the after market support of the LS V8 compared to the dwindling support of the Gen 2 LT1
if I were building a gen 2 SBC it would be a 3rd gen with fbody a carb setup

Without getting into wankery the LS platform is substantially more stout. 300 if you're lucky. the 2v engines only made 250-280 HP.

BBK longtubes and xpipe with borla out the back. I was gonna do cams and pulleys plus steeda suspension work but I smacked it up and had to fix it. Good for eating riced civics and v6 camaros but it was underpowered for what it was. I did have a lot of fun in it.
