Just starting and don't know which nation/ship lines should I play. Can someone give me the pros and cons of each nations' ships?

Just play german anything, it all comes down to that.

I find the mid tier jap destroyers a bit slow although the fubuki is pretty good. I would avoid the jap destroyers past t3 fubuki for now. The atlanta t4 usn cruiser is the best ship in t4 so you should aim to get that. The wyoming has the most guns in it's tier and are useful in novice fleet battles. The german destroyers are really good in general and also have magnetic torpedos that detonate on proximity but do less damage.

US CAs are pretty okay I like em. Fast guns and accurate fire, paper armor tho

Germans don't have a CV line, play subs.

Don't know anything about them because they require an amount of autism I don't have

Japanese if you want to kill people, at the expense of having no AA, best turning but lower hp per plane. Has more mitigation (dodge)

USA if you like a lot of hangar space, and fast planes that can survive more consistantly due to higher HP but almost no dodge. Also best dive bombers but they are tricky. Fighters have highest damage and speed, and hp. However they cant usually compete in turn fighting compared to Japan (use two squads or try 'boom and zoom')

Brits if you like tea and crumpets. A mix of the two other nations it seems. They wind up with the best top tier damage torps. But I havent done them much, just T6.

Of them, I love the QT flats of the Japanese line for regular use. Cant stand US as I prefer to kill people versus afk fighter/spotter-pure that most pubs do when going CV. Brits are odd but I liked them a lot more than US.
Get to T4 before judging a CV line as most T3's are suffering.

If you can't torp people with USN it isn't the ships' fault m8.

The torps hit, but more often than not on a full spread, instead of a kill, I'm usually left watching them sail away.

Yeah, summed up, WoWs has better graphics (really, they're gorgeous), a less arcadey pace compared to SO (not that it isn't arcadey itself, but less so than SO) and population, while SO shines in the actual gameplay, features, choices of ships, humane grinding and very low jewing. But the marketing department is quasi-nonexistent due to internal issues.
