It was scary, really. In first mission against them, I was scaried as hell and torn between moving slowly with everyone in overwatch and saving civilians.

I forgot to re-equip battle scanner on at least one of the girls and thats how I got punished.

I try to follow guides on how to maximize my research and build order the best I can, and I try to play carefully with making sure the squad is always in high cover or hunkering down in dire scenarios. I also try to get the squad proper armor and weapons before starting the story missions proper. But after a while, usually a bit after mutons are introduced, the squads usually end up wiped out.

I hope they classify Berserkers as regular units instead of Terror units so they appear more often and have Chryssalids show up sooner, both of them felt like they got the shaft in X2.

I agree. Lids are troublesome though, having them show up too early could be pretty devastating.

Then I see no reason, really. I play without research optimized route right now and I dont got wiped yet (Im at mid-June or something, right after first Chryssalids mission).

Maybe try this one - start a mission where you start to get wiped, save at the start and then repeat encounters few times, always trying different approach and solution. Maybe try to save before squad selection and try different setups as well.

Maybe then you will find out, what you do wrong.

I'm thinking they'll fit fine in the midgame, on all my playthroughs it just feels like they come a little too late to feel threatening, and I usually wrap up the campaign not long after so they're not around for long.

In case of some bugs or another mechanic I dont know about, I had once situation, where one of them performer slash after dashing AND move followed with shooting during same turn. Probably because he was set ablaze after slashing and that triggered second action.

The fire damage made him panic. When a unit panics, they can move and shoot at an enemy with a reduced chance to hit. Bad luck.

Almost as bad as when that VIP was hiding behind solid wall of building without windows nearby and advent trooper attacked and killed him anyway, despite being basically unable to see him at all.

When Elite mecs are reduced to half health they combine Gurren Lagann style , regain all health and get 100+ hp and 100+dmg

you can just evac them, also i would like to see the ability to build different kind of skyrangers like in OG XCom, each one with different abilities

More of a wish really, I want enough of a proper re-balance in just about every aspect of the game to fix the core issues.

I'm really cautious of this because I'm not too sure that the same lightning full of bullshit that was oddly of the best experiences I've ever had can strike twice. So far every mod that I've played did its own thing, and it did it well, but the underlying problems that made the whole thing an alpha strike simulator always stayed. They can add it whatever they desire, but if the core of the game remains slaughtering everything the turn you see it, immobilizing them so you can do it next turn, or eating huge shit if you can't do one of the two, then it's junk

I really have a stupid wish about a full port of EW on XCOM 2 engine, but that's really unlikely. I just dislike the way core gameplay of XCOM 2 works, where everything must die in one turn like the guy above mentioned.

At its core Long War was just EW taken to a logical (and illogical) extreme in every aspect.

A larger, better research tree, deeper base design, more tactical options, retarded strong aliens.

They're obviously going to have to overhaul the Avatar Project if they want to live up to the "Long" aspect of Long War 2.

i'd argue just tuning down numbers would fix the problems but all the balance, AI, and enemy mods just dump more enemies with larger stats into the game.

Good, it was annoying to fight him with his 35+ hp bar and neverending swarm of selfdestructing robots, with 4 man squad without ranks other than first, class giving one, during first month or beginning of second, when mission unlocks.
